» It's always fascinating to look back at print ads from yesteryears as they serve as a window into the past and what values and attitudes were acceptable back then. Even though I think you shouldn't judge work from the past with today's value (look up presentism), I'm going to do that anyway with some of the following vintage ads for your entertainment.

» Despite all of the comforts of living in Bangkok, we all wish for safer sidewalks and roads for pedestrians and motorists alike. A recent slate of tragic accidents serves as a wake-up call for us all. Guru asked a few Bangkokians to share their experiences on the road as drivers, motorcyclists and pedestrians while gathering opinions from watchdog groups on what needs to be done so our roads and sidewalks can be safer.

» Though Britain is known for giving us the Spice Girls and 007, it's safe to say that nothing beats what they've given the culinary world: the simple yet delectable fish and chips. » Pimalai Resort & Spa lives up to its name, which is derived from Sankrit, meaning a piece of paradise. Your journey to get there is an experience in itself. Guests are whisked away comfortably (and for free) in a minivan from Krabi Airport to an exclusive jetty to board a Pimalai boat. While onboard, you can nurse a cold drink while taking snapshots against the deep blue sea and various islands along the way.

» Theerachat "Tom" Potisit is a freelance photographer who's behind many iconic images that went viral in recent years. On top of countless fashion shoots, you may have already seen his work, which stimulates conversation on relevant social issues without knowing the man. In 2014, he saw an opportunity to raise awareness on marine life conservation when a Bryde's whale beached in Samut Prakarn and staged a fashion shoot there. Remember the "Anatomy 101" exhibition at Chulalongkorn Hospital in 2015? It was a photo exhibition where Tom and Surachai "Pui" Saengsuwan, a noted fashion photographer, took beautiful, haunting pictures of models and celebs in a hospital setting to raise awareness on organ donation. Most recently, he organised "Know-R", a photography exhibition to highlight livelihood of communities along the Chao Phraya River. It was staged on an old rice barge in February. Tom has also earned a reputation as a photographer/conservationist for his contribution to raising awareness on endangered species over the years. Guru spoke with this fascinating photographer whose works combine art, fashion and raising awareness.
