» A government minister has floated the idea that rural folks who had left Bangkok following the Covid-19 outbreak should undertake New Theory farming in their hometowns and never return to work in the city. He proposed that the Ministry of Agriculture provide training and appropriate technology to boost productivity. It sounds like good news, but is nothing new. We have heard similar things many times in the past.

» Charming cities attract and induce visitors to visit again and again, which is a boon to the local economy. While many provinces have cemented their place as established tourist attractions, some lack distinctive tourism qualities as they do not offer much in terms of entertainment for typical tourists. Instead, they draw visitors due to their serenity where livelihoods and the social fabric of communities have remained unblemished. As such, Pak Tor district stands out as one of those most fascinating places to visit.

» I am a big lover of kingfishers. They come in such beautiful colours, they are simply fascinating and make for great pin-up bird posters. Most often than not, when I have stepped out for birding in Vietnam, and recently in Singapore and Philippines, I have spotted this bird. Once a person has heard the loud shrill call of the collared kingfisher, it's difficult not to recognise it the next time over.

» I am sure most of us who watch movies have heard the shrill, ominous, threatening call of a raptor, to accompany an action scene or a scene in the desert.

» The small and dainty Silver Eared Mesia is a beautiful bird with a very striking mix of colours on its plumage. The plumage has red, yellow, orange, grey, silver, red, and black. The mesia is found in South East Asia. These pictures were shot in Vietnam. This bird has a silver patch behind its eyes which gives it the name "silver eared". They belong to the family of Leiothrix.

» When it comes to travelling, everybody has his or her own specific purpose. Some might just want to stay trendy and go to popular places. Some travel to escape their hectic, fast-moving daily routine and probably to take a real break. Some travel just because they are curious about the unknown territory and maybe because they love challenges. Those who go on business trips usually don't have much time to explore.

» What a riot of colours this bird is! Very commonly seen in gardens, woodlands and green areas in India and South East Asia, this bird is famous for its loud call which resembles the sound made by a coppersmith at work striking the metal with a hammer. This is none other than the coppersmith barbet.
