» I have never read My Best Friend's Exorcism by Grady Hendrix, but over the years, I've heard how great it is and how it is a horror favourite. The book was published around the same time as the hit series Stranger Things, and both have become known for their horror/comedy and coming-of-age stories with strong 1980s retro vibes. While I may not know how closely it resembles the novel, going into a comedy horror adaptation of My Best Friend's Exorcism, the poor screenplay, character development and overall execution give an impression that this movie does not achieve the charm of the original.

Since the genre's peak in the mid 70s and until today, each slasher movie has stayed true to its original format, without much change in the presentation. Most of these movies usually involves a group of young people on a trip, perhaps to a cabin in the woods, and a serial killer with crazy choices of weapons. There's a lot of screaming and running around and characters making poor decisions that lead to their tragic death.

However, movie lovers in Thailand have been introduced to many different streaming services including Netflix, HBO GO and most recently Disney+ Hotstar, each featuring their own original and impressive roster of movies, series, animations and documentaries.
