» Chef Purida "Pu" Theeraphong is probably best known for being the first female chef to win Iron Chef Thailand 2012. Since then she has been executive chef at many five-star establishments in Bangkok, her most recent position being executive chef and head of the creative kitchen at Osha. Chef Pu has more than two decades of experience in the culinary industry, having honed her skills in Australia and Bangkok. Now, she takes her knowledge, skills and passion for Thai cuisine and food design and has decided to keep tradition alive by opening Old Town Thai Cooking Studio. Guru speaks to chef Pu about her month-old cooking studio and why she chose this over opening a restaurant.

» San Francisco-based digital artist Purin Phanichphant is one of many highlighted talents whose works are on display at W Bangkok for Hotel Art Fair 2019, which runs until June 23. The sixth edition of this annual art event returns with "Breaking Boundaries" and features more than 30 leading Thai and foreign galleries, as well as independent artists. Purin, who is showcasing his playful interactive arts, talked about his journey as an artist.

» In his pursuit for traditional values, chef Luke Farrell has created a 'living library' of his own. Ryewater Nursey in Dorset, the UK, is the labour of Farrell's love for all things Asian, especially ingredients. On his family's 40-hectare property, the chef-turned-farmer is growing Asian produce, which he supplies to top London restaurants. Using seeds and cuttings brought from his travels in Asia, Farrell is growing, in greenhouses, fresh organic herbs, spices and vegetables, pollinated by his father's tropical butterflies. Guru speaks to Farrell about his growing obsession with Asian ingredients.

» While her scones are the talk of the town, she is also renowned for her creative pastries. Chef Penny Jirayuwatana, better known as Penny the Chef, graduated from the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), and has more than 20 years' experience in kitchens in America and Europe, including at the award-winning Dominique Ansel Bakery London, the Mandarin Oriental London and Mercer Kitchen by Jean George Vongerichten in New York. Penny has also had the opportunity to cook for Prince Charles at Windsor Palace. Born and raised in Bangkok, she has been back home for the last four years and works as a consultant for bakeries, food factories and airlines, apart from making appearances as a guest judge on Masterchef Thailand and Iron Chef Thailand. Penny has most recently partnered with 137 Pillars Hotel and Suites Bangkok to curate a special Mad Hatter's Afternoon Tea set.
