» 'Wonderwall' is all I remember. The rest of Oasis is a blur to me. I was still living in New York City when the band had their global breakthrough -- and that song was everywhere. From the album (What's the Story) Morning Glory?, it's one of the few mid-1990s songs whose lyrics this Boomer can remember. I admired its Beatles-like off-kilter poetics, its love-will-save-the-day (if not, maybe it'll just save me) sentimentality. This is because the prime minister did not himself clarify why he omitted to recite an important part of the oath as stipulated in the constitution but assigned his top legal expert, Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam, to act on his behalf.

» In the short time since December 2018, central banks have collectively injected as much as US$500 billion (15.6 trillion baht) of liquidity to stabilise economic conditions. The US Federal Reserve has put interest rate increases on hold and is contemplating a halt to its balance-sheet reduction plan. Other central banks have taken similar actions, fuelling a new phase of the "everything bubble" as markets careen from December's indiscriminate selling to January's indiscriminate buying.

» As the country gears up for an election, initially expected to take place late February next year, the military regime under Prime Minister Chan-o-cha should learn about the political etiquette that obliges it to refrain from the business-as-usual edict in running state affairs.

» When it comes to antitrust enforcement, one of the guiding principles is the effect on consumer prices. So the antitrust question of the moment is this: Will combining AT&T with Time Warner or Sprint with T-Mobile so diminish competition that prices go up?
