Asia focus, Erich Parpart, Published on 29/07/2019

» It all began with hundreds of thousands of people marching through the streets of Hong Kong against a proposed extradition law. With monsoon rains below average, four lakes in the city of 4.7 million have dried up. Residents don't have enough water to drink, bathe or wash clothes, malls have closed their washrooms and restaurants are not open for customers.

Mission Impossible in Hong Kong

Asia focus, Ken Lohatepanont, Published on 17/06/2019

» A million people on the streets. A demonstration that stretched across Causeway Bay. A movement that foreign media breathlessly dubbed Hong Kong's "last stand". Last week's protests marked a historic moment, but they also had an idealistic, almost fatalistic, air.

Imagine the world as one

Asia focus, Tanyatorn Tongwaranan, Published on 20/05/2019

» The peripatetic nature of a journalist's life allows me to see the world in a way that I would never have imagined earlier. Each journey is different, even if it's in the same city, as there are always new things to learn, see and appreciate.
