» Well we've just about scraped through the Year of the Ox. It was a strange time, rather like living in a vacuum, not entirely sure what would happen next. Nothing could have been worse than 2020, but 2021 wasn't far off. At the start of the year there was hope that the cloud of Covid could be shaken off and we would all become happy folks in the Land of Smiles again, but it didn't quite work out that way -- it's the hope that kills you.

» Before the coup in Myanmar, there were 50,000 food delivery riders -- Food Panda, Grabfood, Yangon Door2Door, Food2U, and so on -- who provided a crucial service to the stressed homebound population of Covid-affected Yangon. Today there are less than 2,500 of them. Many have returned to their hometowns and villages. Their loss of income will be greatly felt in the coming months.

» Recent claims made by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (Peta) that eight Thai coconut farms have been exploiting monkeys by forcing them to pick coconuts for industry are not only false but have hurt small scale farmers who are not involved in Thailand's coconut industry in any way.
