Weeding the garden of Emotions

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 15/08/2010

» This week I made a mercy dash to Chanthaburi after receiving a disturbing phone call on Sunday evening. ''Lersak's tried to kill himself,'' Samai breathlessly told me over the phone. ''He drank weed killer at your house.''

Beauties and the Beast

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 22/08/2010

» Look at the picture I had taken this week! That's right, dear reader, far from rubbing shoulders with fellow Samut Prakanians in Foodland Srinakharin, your correspondent was up close and personal with the Miss Thailand World gang.

And the winners are...

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 29/08/2010

» If you're on your way to make your first alcohol purchase of the day, alas, it's another dry day in the City of Angels. That's because there's an election today for the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, or city council. B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 18/07/2010

It's a small world in Thai politics

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 08/08/2010

» Oh God, not another one. On a ranking of things Thailand desperately needs right now, where would "an extra province" be? Surely somewhere down in the 900s, wedged between "pay rise for politicians" (#946) and "more Cambodian child beggars outside police booths" (#948).

Pushing the envelope in VEGAS

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 04/07/2010

» I know. It's been a long week. After my exquisite cliff hanger last Sunday, I am back again to finish the tale of my trip to Las Vegas and the strange set of circumstances that erupted in the middle of the night there.

Getting Bobbleheaded over an iPad

B Magazine, Andrew Biggs, Published on 11/07/2010

» Conventional wisdom has it that a blink of an eye lasts 400 milliseconds. For me, it is more like three months. That’s how I feel as I pack my two meagre suitcases to leave the bustling, crazy world of Los Angeles for the bustling, crazy world of Bangkok. There are people to farewell, tequila bars to visit, dinners to attend, and tequila bars to visit — did I repeat myself just then? There’s been the quick trip up to Hollywood Boulevard to buy tacky souvenirs.
