» To keep checking your posture and distance from the ball is important, so don't get complacent. The way you stand to the ball dictates how you swing the club, so getting the correct posture governs the distance you'll be standing from the ball. To do this, simply hold out the club in front of you, with the butt of the club pointing into your belly button. Lock your arms and knees. Then, retaining the angle in the hands, bend from the waist until the club head touches the ground.

» The vital importance of having a great brain box that's sparking and works well under all the problems thrown at a golfer during any round, is perhaps just as vital as the mechanics of a good golf swing. Just think of all the rubbish that Rory had to face in winning last week, the constant mundane old boring useless questions that he had to answer whilst smiling and showing interest in replying to what he had for breakfast and what he watched on TV last night.

» The psychological area that comes with the game of golf is hugely underestimated. If you don't think hard about how your brain is working, as you are walking around the course it is important, think of all the players who used to play great yet couldn't even hit a cow's backside with a cricket bat.

» To start any golf swing a forward press of some sort is required to start the action. Naturally we don't start many movements from a dead start. Your hands, hips, shoulders and legs will rock forward a little bit to help the reaction that gives the momentum needed for the backswing. This initiates the turn and the shift of the weight to the right foot; your hands will follow your turn into the backswing and your left heel will rise.

» Is it possible to keep your head completely still when you swing the club? If so, is it beneficial to do so? Well, the answer is no.

» Some golfers don't slice every time, even though they don't rotate the club with their hands and wrists, because they hit the ball with their shoulders although using them is not a good way to square up the clubface. It is very inconsistent and leads to an outside-in swing path known as "coming over-the-top."

» By moving your left knee forward, the hips are naturally turned back and allow for the backswing to occur. By making sure the kneecap doesn't move laterally, you are limiting the overall movement of your lower body, and in doing so promoting a more reliable and compact swing.

» It is easy to rush a golf swing as we are all trying to hit the ball a significant distance, especially if you are standing on the tee with others watching, so it is only natural to swing as hard and fast as possible.
