Find fairways more often by going against the grain

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 23/07/2025

» When it comes to hitting it long off the tee, go with your normal shot shape. When driving the ball well, most of us play a slight draw, so no matter what the conditions, we'll always have this natural shape. Getting off the tee is the hardest part of the game for new golfers. I've seen many golfers fight their natural shot shape.

Master patience or watch your golf game fall apart

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 23/04/2025

» Anybody who has ever picked up a club and tried to make a swipe at a golf ball has quickly realised the importance of patience in the game of golf. Whilst recognising this -- you're able to monitor your feelings and understand the natural results of failing to keep calm after hitting a terrible shot. All golfers learn quickly that patience is essential if you wish to play golf reasonably well. You cannot rush patience on the golf course, rather like bringing up a baby who's totally helpless and dependent on you, patience is learnt and is a vital requisite.

Perfect your pivot and master the swing motion

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 26/03/2025

» Working tirelessly on a good setup is an investment for future consistent shots. A good stance to the ball starts a chain reaction of good movements throughout the swing. If you're wrong at the start then required adjustment movements will be required to manipulate the club, or your body, in order to get the club back on track. So, pay particular attention to standing to the ball correctly as this is where good shots start.

Douglas Brasier inducted into Sweden's Hall of Fame

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 24/07/2024

» A good drill for developing the feel for distance is to putt a ball 30 feet. Then putt the next one 29 feet. Then 28 feet, and so on. An average golfer misses short putts because of fear or a lack of concentration. Instead of just stroking the putt into the hole, he or she is thinking about any number of things -- including other players who are watching for the result. Don't guide short putts into the hole, the right way is to approach a short putt from behind and line it up. If you decide it breaks two inches left of the cup, then that's where you want to strike it -- not jerk it into the hole.

Solve chicken wing problem with this drill

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 27/09/2023

» The "chicken wing" scenario happens in the backswing or takeaway -- a glove or headcover under the armpit during practice will hinder this issue.

Sports, Brett Brasier, Published on 28/06/2023

» Think about executing a fairway wood this way -- if your practice swings on the range don't sweep and touch the ground, you are practising topping it!
