    Chiang Mai pollution

By modsquad, Created on: 11/03/2015, Last updated on: 01/05/2016

» Can any of you confirm this? Chiang Mai province has recorded air quality levels that are worse than last year due to haze caused by slash and burn farming. The level of fine dust particles in the air at Yupparaj Witthayalai School in central Chiang Mai was measured at 256 micrograms per cubic...

    • Tanaka commented : Unbelievable. The same every year. Ban burning and fine anyone who burns, 50.000B first offence and prison one month. . Next time it doubles and so on. You cannot reason with stupid and the only way to change their habits is to make it sting not to follow the law. Of course this means that the police would actually have to do something to enforce the law. So it is not likely to happen any time soon.

    Motorcycle Road Safety

By Jadzia, Created on: 25/02/2015, Last updated on: 29/02/2016

» [img:2lpliewp]http://www.bangkokpost.com/media/content/20150227/814578.jpg[/img:2lpliewp] I am an English motorcycle instructor who loves Thailand and I'd like to share my thoughts in helping to address the current road safety situation here. I don't claim to be an expert on Thailand....

    • Tanaka commented : Good one Jadzia and it would be a step on the way. Apart from teaching English, a foreigner cannot teach a Thai anything because they already know everything. That is their general attitude, also in traffic. But if you were allowed to teach children the basics, as your idea is, it would be the right way to go. The problem is the adults. And as for helmets. Most of the crap for sale here, are ok to keep your dinner salad in, nothing else. Even if people were wearing them. But there IS a law on compulsory helmet wear! Often you can see police officers riding their bikes without any kind of protection. They sometimes have road checks and fine people a brittle sum for not wearing helmet and then let them be on their merry way again. Without helmet. I often see here, in the sticks, police officers ignoring people ignoring traffic laws like no helmets, too many on a bike, running a red light, driving against the traffic etc, etc. Why? Because they are too lazy to do their job, that is why!
