    Trip down memory lane

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 07/01/2022

» At different degrees, we are all so familiar with Harry Potter's stories and the wonderful magical adventure that went on to become one of the most successful novel and cinematic franchises of all time. Still, it's hard to believe that it's 20 years since the first film came out, and most of the original fans of the series are now in their 30s and 40s. After the success of reunion specials that have aired recently, like the epic fantasy series Game Of Thrones or the 90s sitcom Friends, HBO has brought us another heartwarming special with Harry Potter 20th Anniversary: Return To Hogwarts, the highly anticipated retrospective special that is now streaming exclusively on HBO GO.

A simple story of the heart

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 01/07/2022

» La Famille Bélier became my favourite film of the year as soon as I saw it for the first time in 2014. I liked it not because it was a foreign indie film or because I'm a fan of musicals, but because it was different from formulaic teen singing flicks like Pitch Perfect (2012) or Bandslam (2009), which were popular at the time. The film was a heartwarming comedy-drama that checked the boxes of a teen coming-of-age story. But who would have thought there would be a remake a few years later?

    A modern fairy tale

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 01/07/2022

» I guess it's that time when Disney thinks traditional glass slippers are not cool for the young generation, but sneakers surely are. From the title of Disney's new musical romantic comedy, Sneakerella, you can tell it has something to do with Cinderella. Yes, it's based on the classic, but it's a new, modernised version. They gender-swap the characters and then dive into sneakerhead culture and dance music. Whether this sounds like a weird combination, well, such a movie now exists.

Sandler's Hustle is a Euro step redemption tale

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 17/06/2022

» Whether it's because he has reached a saturation point with goofy comedies, or because he's too old to lead a romantic comedy, in the past few years, Adam Sandler has turned to more mature, dramatic roles. If you've seen his ventures into indie films like Punch-Drunk Love (2002), The Meyerowitz Stories (2017) or more recently Uncut Gems (2019), you'll notice that Sandler has a dramatic side to him that's surprisingly impressive. Now Sandler's back with another dramatic turn in Hustle, a Netflix sports drama where he plays a basketball scout looking for the next great player. Hustle feels like Jerry Maguire meets Rocky. It is a heartfelt, uplifting underdog movie that also serves as a love letter to the NBA.

» Any child of the ’90s will remember the hugely popular character Max Steel. Kids everywhere loved to collect the action figures and read about the superhero’s adventures in his comic books. Max even had his own cartoon series, which ran from 2000 to 2002. In 2013, the show was successfully rebooted and this renewed popularity led to a new movie, the live-action adaptation of Max Steel.

    A mother's instinct

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 10/12/2021

» When we think of abusive relationships, our minds often imagine physical violence leading to black eyes or bruised lips, but in reality, there's much more to it than that. It can also involve mental, emotional, and verbal abuse. If you watch the trailer of the new miniseries Maid, it might look depressing or even a public service announcement about domestic abuse but don't let that scare you away because Maid will get you hooked on its plot in minutes. I spent 10 hours binge-watching in one sitting. Maid is one of those shows that has that effect on you. This drama is powerful, heartbreaking, inspiring, and absolutely one of the best shows on Netflix I've seen all year.
