Prada, well played

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 07/08/2014

» There's a strong German thread in Prada's autumn/winter 2014 collection, particularly with Pina Bausch being Miucca Prada's main inspiration. Traces alluding to the avant-garde choreographer can be seen both in the runway show as well as in the items themselves. There's an element of performance about the collection: the men's trousers are more slim fitting, but the non-structured pieces are loose and resemble a dancer's clothes. To complete the look for him this season, top it off with a scarf (hand-sewn), loosely tied or not.

Sexy, strong and superhuman

» Some thick people we know may give off the impression that they are using only 10% of their brains. It may be a long-time hoax and also the biggest controversy surrounding Luc Besson’s latest film, Lucy, but nevertheless, it serves as the main road map that drives the picture. Lucy, which hits Thai cinemas tomorrow, stars a strangely unprovocative Scarlett Johansson as the unapologetically invincible heroine.

Flights of Fantasy

» Will Simpson, Game Of Thrones’ storyboard artist, was at Bangkok Comic Con last Sunday to share how his artwork influenced the direction of the series at the talk “Inside The World Of Westeros”. Simpson has been working on the series since the first pilot episode and is also the person who created the first look of the White Walkers despite minimal descriptions from the books. Much of the visuals you see on the show, such as the dragons, direwolves and the three-eyed raven, were sparked by Simpson’s input. We bring you his best panel comments regarding the world of Thrones and his job.

Fashionably fit

» There’s nothing quite like an awesome outfit or accessories to encourage women to go out and do, well, just about anything. Just as tough as exercising, for some, can be finding the motivation to actually start in the first place.

Reporter royalty

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 01/05/2014

» Very few people have chit-chatted with the royalty of the world, be via a global broadcast or in a private garden, unseen to the public eye. Journalistic requests can open many doors — those of palaces included — but British native Max Foster has never taken this for granted.

Sew what?

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 23/05/2014

» The little lady dressed in an androgynous total look of denim and minimal make-up, who happens to be the designer and founder of new fashion label Commit a Sin, has to get a few seconds of shut-eye every so often during the interview to recollect her train of thought. It can only be expected, as Pattamon “Jan” Taechanarong has been up until 5am preparing and getting the last things in place for her upcoming fashion show. Yet, she hardly minds the physical and mental strain that comes with the workload of her new business.

Moss Mania is back

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 22/05/2014

» For over two decades now, everything Kate Moss has touched has turned into fashion gold and apparently, Moss Mania isn’t quite over yet. The British supermodel is back again for another collaboration with Topshop for its spring/summer 2014 collection, after her hiatus from the high-street brand began in 2010.

Winter is coming

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 04/04/2014

» ‘Summer is coming” doesn’t quite have the same ring as “winter is coming”. In fact, it sounds like a sarcastic comment in Thailand, which deals with a climate hotter than seven hells all year long, not to mention our simmering politics, with countless climaxes that result in no change whatsoever. For the unaware, “winter is coming” is one of the trademark phrases from the Game Of Thrones TV series, coined to imply that something dark, frightening and lethal is in the future.

As the young adult incarnation of all things Thai, be it a nickname, looks, mannerisms or musical abilities, Pimdao is the darling hand-chosen by entertainment doyens, admired by those that surround her and the kind of loving daughter and sister households wished they had.
