    • Captain Flasheart commented : Bump, I thought 'd post how I got mine. Born in 0xford UK, 1990. Mother is Thai. Just went to the Thai embassy in London with my mother and father, with all my documents, birth certificate etc, and all my mum's documents, like her ID passport etc. A bit of paper work, a small fee, 1 photo later, and I had 2 passports. Dual Thai Brit, easy as. Now I'm 18 technically I have to choose a citizenship. I declared myself as Thai, and said I gave up my British passport. Reall, I still have my British passport. Britain doesn't mind you having two passports. In fact getting my ID card when I was 15 turned out to be harder, going to Khon Kaen 3 times in one week from Bangkok.

The fact of dowry in traditional marriage

By Anonymous, Created on: 21/05/2006, Last updated on: 21/10/2007

» I want to set the record straight about the dowry in Thai traditional wedding ceremony. There are so many talks in this forum regarding the dowry that I found it very disturbing and I want to correct the attitude of those who believe that paying dowry is to pay the price for having Thai wife. By...

However, I don’t agree with you on what you say Brit soldiers ‘who have fought to protect us from evil men and evil organisations’. This war is illegal and only makes the world more and more unbearable to live (but we have no choice, haven’t we?) This war only serves and satisfies politicians and war hungers.

    • Anonymous commented : Sanders - it's probably because you don't spell LEGITIMATELY correctly. That's why the Bangkok Brit Embassy is keeping your Thai lovely out. You can contact me via The East Enders for spelling lessons. It might help.

divorce and marriage law in thailand

» can any one advise me the following matter. a friend of mine will be getting married to his thai fiancee in 12 days time in thailand. what i would like to know is if the marriage should sadly break down and then his wife goes back to thailand after say they have lived in england for about 6 months...

    • Anonymous commented : Zebedee Before read on my message, sit down and have someone with you just in case you go mad. You were fooled by these marriage scams. No good woman (especially Thais) will marry a guy whom she knows for only one week! This sounds like an organised gang try to lure westerners to the country and pushing for marriage, abusing the marriage tradition. As for the reasonable dowry question for this woman, none. And I also suggest you to report this incident to police so that they can investigate this fraud and put stop on it. You cannot go fishing for bride by going online if you want to find a mother for your children and not just a casual partner. And you don’t need to come to Thailand either. I’m sure there are many nice Brit girls in your own country.

    British Embassy in Bangkok

By Anonymous, Created on: 05/10/2004, Last updated on: 25/02/2011

» In March, my Thai partner wanted to visit me in London. Before granting a visa, the Embassy wanted a mountain of paperwork including proof of my income, whether or not I woned my own home and a whole lot of other things. At this stage, I have to say that we have many controversial issues in the UK...

    • Anonymous commented : My girlfriend is a Thai university student and I am a Brit living in Bangkok. I have taken her to the UK twice on tourist visas and once each to Spain and the US. (The US embassy gave her a 10 year tourist visa.) She is not from a wealthy family and doesn't have a lot of assets but did have the minimum B200k in a bank account deposited over a period of time before the first application. The US embassy didn't even look at her bank book. I read all the various embassy requirements very carefully before each application and provided detailed documentation on both of our backgrounds as well as invitations from hosts with copies of their passports and evidence of their addresses. I attended all the interviews with her. On each occasion she was given the visa immediately after brief interviews to confirm some of the details in the documentation. I have no complaints at all except that the American Embassy is very hot and queues there are long and that the Spanish Embassy requires notarised documents from a host which cost me 200 euros. The British Embassy came out absolute tops in terms of efficiency and courtesy for my money. I also have nothing but praise for the consular section. If you look at British Embassy web site you will see that they are looking for a company to outsource some of the visa work to. I hope they can maintain the same standards.

    • Anonymous commented : I think you'll find that marriage to a Brit no longer means automatic right of entry - let alone residence - into the UK. Sure some grils are simply trying to better themselves - and those who genuinely make the effort, deserve a chance. But so many are simply on a scam to an easy life, ripping-off their unsuspecting husband.

    • Anonymous commented : also. Any comments any of you Brits?
