    Where there's life, there's hope

Life, Apipar Norapoompipat, Published on 14/09/2017

» Walking into "Hope Land" -- Jam Cafe's latest photography exhibition by rising American talent Adam Birkan -- some may appreciate the minimalist shots of people going about their day, soi dogs standing around in dumpsters, and the typical scenes of Bangkok's bustling chaos. Some, however, may also think that all of this is nothing new.

The future of work and the role of HR

Business, PwC Thailand, Published on 13/01/2017

» Innovation is creating new industries and the need for different business models. New technology and social networks are having a huge impact on how people communicate, collaborate and work. Workforces will become more and more diverse with multi-generational, multicultural, and multi-located employees, and will be very challenging to manage. The key question you should be asking is how these changes will affect the way you attract, retain and motivate talent in your organisation and how your Human Resources function needs to change.

Choosing the right tools for the right successor

Business, Sorayuth Vathanavisuth, Published on 22/09/2016

» In my article two weeks ago I discussed three steps for developing and sustaining a successful talent programme: creating a succession plan policy, identifying talent, and establishing a development programme. Today I would like to focus mainly on identifying talent, a subject on which many top executives sometimes have conflicting views.

» It's only been a month since You began airing on Netflix, but fans are already hooked on the romantic psychological thriller. And if you're one of those who already spend most of their free time binge-watching the show, you most likely have some of complicated feelings about the show's protagonist -- Joe Goldberg, the charming gentleman who also happens to be a murderer.

    Life, Published on 01/06/2017

» A thoroughly Russian evening of musical passion was well received by appreciative patrons at the Thailand Cultural Centre on May 21, as the Royal Bangkok Symphony Orchestra once again richly benefited from the inspiring presence of high-flying international talent. Both still young but established in their fields, conductor Yuri Medianik and pianist Andrey Gugnin performed with such phenomenal bravura that this event will be remembered as a standout concert in this year's Bangkok calendar.

» C.B. Cebulski may have been working at Marvel Comics for the past 17 years, but figuratively, he's been with the superhero powerhouse for 40 years -- becoming a fan the second his father handed him his first X-Men comic when he was five.

    Happy heart

    Suwitcha Chaiyong, Published on 25/04/2017

» The talent show The Star has been on the small screen for 12 years, and has proved hugely popular with audiences. However, it’s surprising that in all that time, the programme has only ever had two female winners. One of those, Radubdow Srinawong (Matung) who gained the first place crown in 2015, is also the youngest ever winner. There can be no doubt that she deserved her success, however. She may be small, but her big voice absolutely blew the audience away.

Business, PwC Thailand, Published on 24/04/2017

» Yesterday was one of the key highlights in your career as you closed the biggest acquisition in your company's history. The acquired business is only slightly larger than your company by revenue, but has 20% fewer employees. The market anticipates that the new enlarged group will grow by more than 150% from product extensions, cross-selling, and the key talent in the management team at the acquired entity.

    Fresh faces, stale formula

Life, Melalin Mahavongtrakul, Published on 23/02/2017

» The producers at Kantana Group were in for some big challenges when they decided to renew the model-seeking reality show The Face Thailand for a third season. When Season 2 aired in late 2015, it was a big hit -- a television phenomenon that mixes talent-seeking, scripted drama and saucy characterisation of the three mentors -- Metinee "Lukkade" Kingpayome, Namthip "Bee" Jongrachatawiboon and Chris Horwang -- whose constant bickering was the real attraction of the show. It was one of those shows everyone had to watch so they could inject their own commentary and fuel discussions online and in-office pantry.
