Bright red jumpsuits. Electric blue stewardess attire. There were some who went rogue with Thai traditional costumes and life-size cardboard cut-outs from Crossroads. Plushy pythons also made a popular prop to emulate that time when Spears draped a python on her body for the I'm A Slave 4 U performance in 2001.

» Whenever we discuss the representation of the LGBT population in popular media, what comes to mind is often the names and faces we see on TV. We fail to look a little further to the nearby screen of our computer, especially into video games that people can spend countless hours on. The lack of diversity, while a shocker, is something to be expected. White male protagonists are leading the pack. And if women find it hard to see themselves being represented in the gaming world, the LGBT community has seen much worse.

» A year is coming to a close, and it has been quite a good one for the LGBT community worldwide, so to speak. More countries and states are starting to legalise same-sex marriage — a sign of more acceptance and understanding from the public. Though that list still has yet to include Thailand, the movements by Thai gender activists are ongoing, and we wait for the day everyone can stand proudly and equally next to one another regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.
