» I recently encountered two separate problems with Bangkok's airports. The first one was on arriving from Chiang Mai at Don Muang (with Thai Airways), my wife and I needed to transfer to Suvanabhumi to fly onwards to Kuala Lumpu (with Thai Airways). Outside the terminal, sat a man at a desk,...

No water spouts at the new airport

By Anonymous, Created on: 04/02/2007, Last updated on: 07/02/2007

» along with the current problems, it looks like there is not a single drinking water spout before security at the new airport. In the old airport, there were water spouts outside every toilet - whereas in the new there are not any anywhere at all. At the gate, there seems to be some water spouts,...

    • Anonymous commented : Yes, these are a lot of things missing at the new SUV airport. It will take about two years to decorate and install all necessary accommodations after they fixed all the structural problems. At this time, they will open the old Don Muang airport too...which is very necessary for lot of reasons. Bangkok metroplex area do need both airports for commercial airlines, private airplanes, and military aircrafts. The new SUV with larger facility could serve as aircraft maintenance center for SEA. While training facilities could be done at both airports. Many of the Thai Airway domestic flights could be operate from the old Don Muang since it would be convenient for travellers already at hotels in Bangkok. It would be good for business communities in general to have both airports operating. I am think about jobs for Thais and flexibility of services.

» I, my wife and infant son, recently purchased one way tickets from Bangkok to Hong Kong for 2nd Feb. The travel agent, Pakarang (A&J) Travel of Pattaya, charged me an extra 2,100 baht for airport tax and said I wouldn't need to pay at the new airport. On our arrival at check-in I was told...

    • Anonymous commented : Don't worry so much about the airport tax, because according to the Thai Airway's website it's STILL only Baht 500.

    new airport and don muang

By Anonymous, Created on: 13/01/2007, Last updated on: 12/09/2007

» I believe that Bangkok is large enough as a transportation hub and tourist/busines destination to justify two airports. I think it is a good idea to re open Don Muang Airport. There are many cities around the world with multiple International Airports. The proposal to allow domestic flights and...

    • Anonymous commented : I suggest Thai International Airway exclusively use Don Muang airport. Suwannaphumi is concessed to a capable foreign operators and all foreing liners use it, atter renovation at the concessionaire cost. Connection is no big deal as TG has plentiful short range connections. Tourists will not choose the flights connection by moving from an airport to another. THAI can do well like silk like management in Thai style and compete with international concessionaire. All shoplets must go together with THAI and empty the suwanna.
