    » The famous beach resort of Hua Hin is one of my most frequented destinations for mountain biking. With four regularly maintained downhill tracks, Khao Hin Lek Fai which stands just west of the downtown area boasts more DH trails than any other hill of its size in Thailand. On my latest trip there, the local downhillers refused to bring me to our favourite trails. The reason being that there was, again, a brand new one, and they insisted I had to try it. Of course, I readily agreed. Why not?

The almost 200-year-old iconic temple (or Wat Prayoon, as the locals call it) made headlines when the restoration of its ivory-white stupa and the adjoining hall, Pharin Pariyattithammasala, won the Award of Excellence in the 2013 Unesco Asia-Pacific Heritage Awards for Cultural Heritage Conservation, marking the first time that a Thai project has been recognised with such an esteemed honour.
