After Ornanong Thaisriwong's solo performance Bang La Merd earlier this year was attended by military officers, B-Floor is back under the directorial helm of Teerawat Mulvilai in Manoland.

» The opening of WTF Gallery's current exhibition "Monday 2 Monday" earlier this month might have been missed by a few. That could partly be explained by the exhibition's title and the fact that the opening was actually on a Friday. In addition, the gallery is closed on Mondays. But this is all beside the point.

» Right after entering the theatre space on the fourth floor of the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre, Vidura Amranand was lying on the floor, scribbling on an acrylic box “when was the last time I cried about him?” A bit further into the production, Navinda Pachimsawat Vadtanakovint stood in awe of the pool of light that showered over her own shadow.

» Through movements with a bit of monologue and dialogue, B-Floor's Sarut Komalittipong and Sasapin Siriwanij present their debut directorial production WW101 on the occasion of the 101st anniversary of the World War I. The idea began when the two directors travelled to Europe, visiting the Dachau concentration camp and realising how little they actually knew about the World Wars.

» In the exhibition "Subcutaneous Infrastructure" at Bridge Art Space, a set of plaster sculptures by Natee Tubtimthong and those made of metal wire with found objects by Wisut Yimprasert don't clash, but complement one another with smooth cohesion.

» At Yet-Space, there was fried chicken which looked like KFC but tasted worse. At Speedy Grandma, the hipsters, as usual, seemed perfectly fine with Asahi draught as their sole sustenance. At Bangkok University Gallery there was food but I wasn't there in time to see what it was. In this month's column, which rounds up the best food served in the capital's art scene, The Jam Factory Gallery was a sure winner.
Never forget

» In a stage performance that just finished its run on Sunday, performers re-enacted scenes in which victims were hunted, beaten and strangled to death. In an art exhibition opening tomorrow, we'll see in paintings traces of atrocious scenes in the foreground while the surface is heavily smudged with paint, to the point of abstraction.

» During a recent press tour of “Scene From A Wake” by Anup Mathew Thomas, this year’s winner of the Han Nefkens Foundation-BACC Award for Contemporary Art, there wasn’t really a tour. We were left to wander unguided, and consequently left confused, even though the Indian artist was present. The second attempt was through an email interview: “Suppose this is a virtual tour, can you take our readers through a few of your pieces in the exhibition?” Here’s his reply:

» The award for best art exhibition opening reception this month goes to café/gallery Counting Sheep Corner on Sukhumvit 61 with Thomas Carrigan's paintings. Despite the fact that it was the bland Singha Light instead of the much-loved original, we had nothing to complain about because the free-flow started before 6pm and continued until late.
