» The silk woven cloth village of Ban Sanuan Nok plants the most mulberry trees in Huai Rat district, Buri Ram. The fresh leaves are the food of silkworms and of the people who use them to enhance their cuisine, and a few of the leaves are even bigger than the size of an adult's hand.

» Somjit Bunraknang, 67, weaves a shrimp by using dry palm leaves. She sits inside a gazebo of her neighbour's house in Ban Ram Daeng in Singha Nakhon district in Songkhla. Despite her impaired right eye, she can skilfully fold the leaves to make fish, grasshoppers, birds, pencil containers and baskets.

» It was dark outside and the crickets chirped monotonously. The rooster's crow before dawn could easily wake up an entire household. I glanced at my watch only to realise it was 4am. Soon an e-taen, a modified farm truck, would pick me up to go watch the Sun rise over a sea of fog from Huai Ton Hai viewpoint in Sukhothai's Ban Na Ton Chan village.
