» There is a newly-invented subgenre of the rock biopic: the queer, British, 1970s-set rock biopic, preferably with family trauma and cruel (or at least unsympathetic) parents. First was Bohemian Rhapsody, the shoddy Freddie Mercury flick, whose status as an Oscar-nominated title still befuddles. Now comes Rocketman, in which Taron Egerton preens and struts in Elton John's greatest hits of wardrobe flamboyance, even at his AA session.

» I wish to thank the 12 diplomats and their respective democratic countries for finally supporting the Thai people. Foreign Affairs Minister Don Pramudwinai's comment, "It's an intervention in our justice system" is a joke. Without a truly democratically elected government there is no justice.

» The Thai LGBTI scene begins 2017 with news that the much-anticipated Bangkok Pride has now been postponed to the end of the year. Originally set for May, the country's first pride parade in 11 years has been pushed back out of respect for King Bhumibol's one-year mourning period. The wait goes on, unfortunately. So for now, we occupy ourselves with the daily mishaps and surprises happening around the world.

» Not surprisingly the better part of Bangkok flooded during the heavy rain in the early morning of May 16 and it looks like the BMA once again was caught off guard. We live in the Bang Na area just opposite Central City and since the last rainy season ended all the equipment used to pump out water has just been left without any sign of regular maintenance. Suddenly required, the BMA will have to get hold of technicians, required spares, operators, etc.
