    Into the light

Life, Melalin Mahavongtrakul, Published on 19/04/2019

» Transgender drag queen Angele Anang lowered to the floor as she was pushed around and thrown away by a group of masked men. Her wig was removed. Nude, she crawled to her father, who was sitting nearby. He put a white flowing dress on her, crying as he did so. Angele, then bald and in white, went back to fight the masked men, over whom she proudly triumphed.

    Jimmy Carr makes triumphant return

    Life, Published on 03/04/2019

» Jimmy Carr joins a growing list of comedians brought to the City of Angels by the Comedy Club Bangkok team Chris Wegoda and Drew McCreadie. The pair has seen Bangkok comedy grow from pub back rooms to plush hotels, and while perfect for TED talks, are hotel conference rooms a touch too clinical for a Jimmy Carr gig? Thankfully not. The Westin Grande ballroom on Sukhumvit Road is warmly lit, well-staffed, and perfectly adequate to accommodate Jimmy Carr-sized crowds.

    Stay silly

Life, Gary Boyle, Published on 10/04/2019

» Depending on your age and sensibility, you either found Tom Green's comedy utterly hilarious or unfathomably puerile. His eponymous show, which ran on MTV from 1999, saw this gangly Canadian out to annoy the population of North America, sticking his camera in people's faces and doing dumb stunts, thereby providing a blueprint for the Jackass boys and a generation of foolish YouTubers.

    A summer of fun

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 05/04/2019

» Summer is here -- like that's not at all obvious. As the heat bears down on all of us Bangkokians, the temptation to simply spend these hellish days locked up in our rooms with the AC turned high (or is it low? You get what I mean) while we cuddle in our blankets and binge hours and hours on end of Netflix shows is strong. But that doesn't have to be the case. There's still a bunch of enjoyable things to do around the city despite the heat. In fact, they're not only fun, but they're perfect things to during the summer time. So stop being a lazy bum, get off that couch and outta the house, and don't worry, you can still have your ice cream. Here's a few summer activities to get you up and going during this heatwave.

    Shopping with all your senses

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 30/03/2018

» It feels like there is an Hour Glass store at practically every main street corner in Singapore, but the Hour Glass store that rules them all is situated on Bideford Road, just off Orchard and right next to Paragon. Fashioned under the name Malmaison and having sat at that location since 2011, the opulent enclave of 745m² is largely under the radar to the common pedestrian, despite the fact that what is housed inside could well become your most lush watch-buying experience ever. Even a local tour guide confirms that most Singaporeans are oblivious to the lavish encounter that awaits inside.
