» Holding a piece of carrot in her hand, Karuna Neraphong offered it to the white horse in front of her. With a gentle movement, she drew her hand away and the horse, eager for some snacks, craned its neck and body to follow. Karuna repeated this action in different directions, making sure the horse stretched well. This is one of her methods of physiotherapy for horses.

» Elephants stomping around the forest doing heavy dragging work is a familiar sight. Less so, though not entirely foreign now after more than a decade, is the sight of them taking to the grassy fields of a polo tournament, the big beasts chasing after a white ball with a kwan chang -- a mahout -- and a player perched on top. All for a good cause, of course.

» Whenever there's a plan to construct buildings on an empty plot, people often find trees growing on the land an obstruction -- something that should be disposed of to maximise the use of available space. But for Naiipa Art Complex, the concept goes in an opposite direction. The trees have to stay, but buildings also have to rise.
