    I <3 Bangkok

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 09/03/2018

» Ah, Bangkok -- the city where road laws are more like suggestions than laws, where the traffic is horrible, the air is polluted, where that Rolex you bought stops working the next day and where a "ping pong show" isn't a game of table tennis. There are many weird and sometimes downright horrifying things we experience living in Bangkok, like being stuck in a taxi with a perverted driver. But despite the many, many things we complain about, Bloomberg's Misery Index (which is a thing, you can Google it) has named Thailand "the least miserable country". In light of that, we've compiled a few reasons why we love living in Bangkok (we are aware we're focusing on Bangkok and not Thailand. We see you rushing to troll us, haters) to remind you to look at the brighter side and forget the fact that the elections are postponed again... Oops.

Bangkok is home to a vast array of rooftop restaurants and bars, some of which are well-known, go-to places for a dinner with a magnificent view of the city's skyline. This week, we have rounded up a number of relatively new rooftop restos for you to check out and enjoy. Protip: don't look down. Seriously.

    Happy and gay

Life, Melalin Mahavongtrakul, Published on 23/12/2014

» A year is coming to a close, and it has been quite a good one for the LGBT community worldwide, so to speak. More countries and states are starting to legalise same-sex marriage — a sign of more acceptance and understanding from the public. Though that list still has yet to include Thailand, the movements by Thai gender activists are ongoing, and we wait for the day everyone can stand proudly and equally next to one another regardless of sexual orientation and gender identity.

    Coldplay across the universe

Life, Kong Rithdee, Published on 07/02/2024

» The latest Coldplay concert in Bangkok was a feat of photogenic spectacles designed to bedazzle, complete with light-blinking wristbands, sci-fi-warped animation on spherical screens, balloons in the shape of planets and exploding fireworks above the roof of Rajamangala National Stadium ("The football field not often used to play football on," as a Thai national squad member noted.)
