RE: My Mom doesn't Like Farangs

By Anonymous, Created on: 07/12/2004, Last updated on: 19/09/2007

» Your mom is right baby. Most farangs could'nt be entrusted. They consider your country as a backyard brothel that should yield to all their queer demands and nature. They look for cheap sex and free service. Sex that act on the woman as if she were a sex tool that responds automatically without resistance....

    • Anonymous commented : farang ex-covicts or retired soldiers, or simply crooks who employ their skills in illegal activities. Most of those with a Thai spouse who resided here are abusing their status. They reflect the bad image well known by all Thais. It is the government responsibility to re-organise this mess.

The fact of dowry in traditional marriage

By Anonymous, Created on: 21/05/2006, Last updated on: 21/10/2007

» I want to set the record straight about the dowry in Thai traditional wedding ceremony. There are so many talks in this forum regarding the dowry that I found it very disturbing and I want to correct the attitude of those who believe that paying dowry is to pay the price for having Thai wife. By...

    • Anonymous commented : who saved us . but even the soldiers who have been maimed in iraq and who have fought to protect us from evil men and evil organisations, these men are treated badly by our government . i do admire the way thai people respect their elders and i should of comprimised more with my ex-wife . i was wrong and i admit it but i was also used .

    • Anonymous commented : with you on what you say Brit soldiers ‘who have fought to protect us from evil men and evil organisations’. This war is illegal and only makes the world more and more unbearable to live (but we have no choice, haven’t we?) This war only serves and satisfies politicians and war hungers.

    • Anonymous commented : , many innocent civilians and soldiers have been unneccesarily killed . lets end this now . but our british soldiers have died heroes , they have taken their orders and unfortunately many have died .

Farang and their seemingly paradoxical ways

By Mr. Surin Province, Created on: 17/10/2008, Last updated on: 17/04/2010

» As a long-historied Farang resident myself, comfortable and understanding, I have to ask the age old question regarding Westerners that find it necessary to stay/live here while finding life so objectionable in many ways. Why is this so? I've experienced this throughout Asia {in particular the LOS}...

    • mele.nani commented : Afghanistan and Iraq. The US soldiers who died have been counted and mourned. What about the families that were bombed and killed? What about the common people that were displaced? The behavior of the Bush administration was self serving, arrogant and shameful. America and the world is going to suffer long term for decisions they have made. The financial crisis is just beginning. It will unfold as an international disaster. You will see more downturn of banks, business, and employment globally because of things that were initiated under the Bush administration. This is my opinion as an American citizen and not the forum which provides us the venue for discussion. In Hawaii we say "malama pono" nurture that which is righteous.

    • Peter-new commented : One thing is very interesting to observe: too many people (politicians, demonstrators) are hiding behind "H.M.The King and the Royal Family", which should be out of any discussion or critic, simply be TABU for everybody. This hiding is coward behaviour, as everybody in opposition to these folks will risk being jailed. Once again, this great TABU must be respected. Once everybody will respect it, o.k. let´s go on & fight with arguments each other as in any democratic system & not fight with legal tricks. But fight with real & fair arguments. The voters will be most thankful & honour the better arguments. Anything different to such will be of evil & increase the rift between the two sides in the people. I know Thailand since 1970 & have not seen much change in understanding democracy there. Besides some improvements of the life of the farmers (they have TV now & fridge & a motobike or a pick-up), they live as before. If they do not receive the money support from their daughters & sons living abroad, they still have not much cash to spend. Another thing bothers me much, if I see it in the TGN TV: the cotaw, people kneen in front of superiors & bowing their head down to the ground. Well, if they do it infront of a Buddha image or for the Royal Family, no problem. It is a sign of great veneration & respect. But if relatives of a killed soldier do it or have to do it for an officer, who is handing them an envelope with some money, come-on, in what century do we live. This has noting to do with tradition. It is a shame & a disrespect of the mens´s dignity. It should be abolished. In a democracy all people are equal & could meet face to face. Again the one exception: The Royal Family, who deserves this great gesture of respect & veneration.

    Rude immigration staff

By ChiefSealth, Created on: 27/04/2009, Last updated on: 19/08/2010

I thought it was just a fluke my first visit but now I've experienced very unfriendly and rude staff multiple times entering and exiting Thailand. And before anyone asks all of my forms and...
