She claimed to have met a man in a shop on Walking Street who said he could provide an excellent time in bed. After accepting his offer and going to his room, Amorn stepped into the shower and the man stepped out of the room with her 20,000-baht mobile phone. Police later caught 46-year-old Chalermporn Saeung who admitted to the theft and offered to return the iPhone to avoid going to jail. He was released after giving back the telephone and paying a 2,000 baht fine.

    Lucky German recovers jewelry

    » An attempted theft by a ladyboy on the beach near Tipp Plaza had a fortunate outcome when the thief failed to put the stolen diamond pendant in her shoe as she had planned. German tourist Martin Freidl, 42, told police that he received the unwelcome attentions of the ladyboy who offered a seasonal discount in return for sex. As the German retreated, the transvestite snatched the expensive item from around the tourist’s neck but, in the struggle, misjudged putting it in her shoe—losing it on the sand. The pendant lay on the beach for about half an hour before a search returned it to the lawful owner. Freidl did not press charges as his property had been returned.

    Girl’s bizarre death begs explanation

    » Police are investigating the perplexing death of a five-year old girl who reportedly convulsed and died after a dog walked around her, or so the story goes. The girl came to Pattaya from Chonburi with her parents Adisak Srisombat and his wife Kamfang. The couple rented a room, they say, and left their daughter alone for a short time. On their return, they found the 5-year-old dead. Doctors determined that the youngster had had a seizure following a shock. There was no evidence the dog had attacked the girl. The inquiry continues.

    Pork deliveryman returns mega-cash

    » Sophon Cable Company was delighted when Tawee Panwilai (2nd left), 42, asked their assistance in finding the owner of a bag containing 90,000 baht in cash and a personal cheque for 16,000 baht.  Tawee found the treasure trove as he was delivering pork products by motorbike to customers at the Nhongkate intersection. He said that at first he was not sure what to do, but his wife advised him to advertise his find on TV. Local police were called in and they easily found the real owner, whose name and address were on the cheque. The haul was returned to Ruengsak Deeboonchai, a rice seller, who said one of his employees lost the bag whilst on his rounds. A police spokesman said it was gratifying that honest citizens still existed and added that Tawee received a reward.

    German tourist jumps to his death

    » German tourist Stefan Heiner Volki reportedly jumped to his death from the 56th floor of the Pattaya Park Tower in Jomtien. The 39-year-old man was scheduled to return to his wife in Germany the day after his fatal fall which was witnessed by a security guard.

    » Kevin Balot was crowned Miss International Queen 2012 at Tiffany’s Show Pattaya, where the 20-year-old nursing graduate competed with 21 other transvestites from around the globe. Jessika Simoes of Brazil was named first runner-up and Thailand’s Panvilas Mongkol was second runner-up, according to pageant organisers Tiffany Show and Piton Communications.
