Let's Judge Candidates by Their Posters

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 15/02/2019

» They say you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover but I say, “Let’s judge candidates in the upcoming elections by their posters”. Their posters are their opportunity to make first impressions with the public and you can’t avoid them on our already hard-to-navigate sidewalks, anyway. Let there be luce

» There are many ways to lighten up your mood in Bangkok. Petting soi dogs and cats (rabies-free ones, that is). Giving coins to beggars (and making a wish to become filthy rich). Going on a "sampling spree" at supermarkets (before your movie). Or reading Guru and liking us at facebook.com/gurumagazinebangkok (pardon the shameless self-promotion).

    Eating for two

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 16/03/2012

I often treat the fat kid in me (and the fat kid that I am) to goong chae nam pla for that sweetness of fresh shrimp and spicy dressing. Summertime has me drooling up and down Thong Lor to quench my yearning for Japanese cold noodles, even though I avoid being outdoors like I avoid soi dogs with rabies. I can also load up on risotto and pasta like I'm expecting quadruplets. But don't feel sorry for me, dear readers. As a man who lives to eat, rather than eats to live, I'm actually fine with it.

    Animal magnetism

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 02/03/2012

» It was first established as Soi Dog Rescue by a British expat named Sherry Conisbee in October 2002. She brought a new concept in animal welfare to Bangkok - catch, neuter, release [CNR]. CNR is the only proven, humane strategy to bring diseases such as rabies under control, while also helping to reduce the number of stray animals.
