    Quarantine 2.0

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 15/01/2021

» Let's be honest and admit that it was bound to happen. The second we got wind of a domestic case in Samut Sakhon, it was only a question of when things would be ordered to close. Granted, it may not be a hard lockdown like the first time around. However, as of the writing of this article, we're upwards of 10,000 cases now compared to the now-measly 1,000 or so we had the first time around so it's safe to say that things are a little worse than before. However, vaccines are set to arrive next month so there's a glimmer of hope. All we have to do is once again limit ourselves from going out in public unless absolutely necessary. I know the thought of having to once again lock ourselves at home is a drag, and that's why we've got this handy list for you. Here's how to thrive -- or at the very least, survive -- the second quarantine.

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 25/12/2020

» The year of 'Rona meant a lot of changes in the way we do things hence the term "new normal", and Geekdom wasn't left unscathed. However, that doesn't necessarily mean it was all bad. There are things we enjoyed watching this year with all the time we had on our hands and fan events that we "attended" right in the comfort of our own home that we wouldn't be able to normally attend. At the same time, there were some things that sadly suffered because of the pandemic and a certain something that fell flat despite all the hype. Here's the winners and losers of 2020 in geek.

» The new Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra is one of the sleekest phones the Korean manufacturer has ever produced, but don't be fooled. The odd one out

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 13/12/2019

» As the holiday season draws near and your family probably begins to make plans for a family get-together, you may be reminded of that quirky relative you have that you'll probably meet. You know, that uncle or aunt who's bordering on cool and weird, the one who's vegan and who's your go-to person when asking about how to live a more sustainable lifestyle but who also uses those weird products like those from Gwyneth Paltrow's company. This is probably the best way to describe the Samsung Galaxy Fold.

    Spooktacular

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 26/10/2018

» Halloween isn't a big deal in Thailand. Unlike in the US, we have the good sense of not encouraging our kids to knock on strangers' doors for candy. The downside, of course, is not having any kids to leech candy off of. Despite that, we thought this time of spookiness would be a great opportunity to hear from you, our dear readers, about your frightening (or seemingly frightening) experiences and as always, you didn't disappoint. Here are 13 -- an apt number for this story -- chilling stories from you to get into the Halloween spirit.

    Haus of burgers

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 07/09/2018

» Just a few minutes' walk from BTS Ari, Cast Iron Burgerhaus has been open for almost 10 months but has already established itself as a go-to place in the area when you're craving a burger. The resto isn't that huge but what it lacks in size it compensates for with its chill feel. Its industrial decor gives it a ragged elegance with the bar being the centrepiece, which brings the entire quaint place together. No doubt you'll have no trouble settling in and that's great because now it's time to dig in.

    Creamalicious

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 20/07/2018

» When you walk into 7-Eleven and head over to their refrigerated items (usually where those quick meals and sandwiches are), you'll find vanilla and chocolate eclairs that are pretty good. The only problem is that "cream puffs" would be the more correct term to describe them. An eclair has an elongated, oblong shape that's filled with cream but also topped with icing, and this is the misconception that Lightning Choux is setting out to correct.

» Every year, the city of San Diego is the host to thousands upon thousands of geeks and nerds that converge for one reason and one reason only: the San Diego Comic-Con. Arguably the Con of all Cons, SDCC is nothing short of geek heaven and has become the place to make major announcements, whether it be movies or TV shows, that send the hallowed walls of Hall H trembling with the screams and squeals of fanboys and fangirls contained therein. This year's Comic-Con certainly didn't disappoint. Here's some of the biggest things that came out of SDCC 2017 and here's to hoping we have a Con that's at least half as good as SDCC here in Bangkok.
