Guru, Pasavat Tanskul, Published on 07/09/2018

» With a passion for travelling, hotels have always had a special place in her heart for Wimintra Raj. As a child, her parents would take her to hotels where she enjoyed dining at the buffet and was mesmerised by the magical act of having her room looking nice and clean the next day. Today, she owns a factory for hotel uniforms and has partnered with an environmentally-friendly factory in China that produces recycled uniforms, as well as being the founder and editor-in-chief of Hotelintel.co, a business-to-business (B2B) publication. The website serves as a portal for news of all things hotels, hospitality and industry-related investment, and features hoteliers and chefs based in Thailand. A graduate in political science, Wimintra is undertaking a micro master's degree online for hospitality management at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. As the website turns four this year, it will be hosting a panel discussion at Gaysorn Village on Sep 27 titled 'Communcation that Sells'.

    The co-working movement

Guru, Pasavat Tanskul, Published on 10/08/2018

» Shared workplaces or co-working spaces, have changed the way people work and collaborate with each other, offering flexibility, opportunities, networking and even relaxation in ways a traditional office cannot. There is no doubt that there has been an abundant amount of such communal spaces in Thailand (look no further than our cover story on co-working spaces a few issues ago), which means that various start-ups and businesses have begun to change the way they operate. JustCo, headquartered in Singapore, is a leading provider of co-working spaces and opened their first co-working centre in Thailand in May. Their first space, which is two-storeyed and is within the AIA Sathorn Tower office building, has attracted potential clients with their vibrant setting, casual and cosy ambience and creative lighting designs. We chat with Kong Wan Sing, founder and CEO of JustCo, on why such spaces are in demand and expansion plans.

    The master chef of fermentation

Guru, Pasavat Tanskul, Published on 02/03/2018

» Phanuphon "Black" Bulsuwan, 35, is the chef and owner of Blackitch Artisan Kitchen in Chiang Mai. A self-taught cook, chef Black creates his daily menu based on season and culture, meaning that there is no specific cuisine to describe the dishes he makes. His restaurant's unique dining experience caters to only 16 guests per seating, served across two tables. He is also known as the local master of fermentation techniques, knowing about its misconceptions and the benefits it brings to the food ingredients. He has also partaken in many food events, the latest being Mad Face Food Week, which takes place until Sunday, at the Pepsi Pier on Charoen Nakhon Road.
