This, we're serious about. But as you sip your sweet ice coffee under some air-conditioned refuge, we offer you a light-hearted recap of a few funny, exciting or random bits of news that are theoretical and totally scientific explanations of why this country is so ******* hot right now!

    Dragged by the heals

» We did it. We've gone where no other BKK lifestyle publication has gone before for a story. We went drag. Nope, we didn't just stand on the sidelines, ask questions and admire. We went in, literally, as far as you can go, and experienced it first-hand for ourselves. » Over New Year's, I watched a local film in Los Angeles that peaked on so many levels. It was called The Love Witch. The story centres around a sensual dark-haired witch, played by the stunning Samantha Robinson (look her up), who uses magic to make men fall in love with her. It's absolutely brilliant. Seriously, go search and watch it. Because not only did we enjoy The Love Witch for its witty commentary on love, sexuality and feminism through the medium of comedic horror, the film left us obsessed with ultra-sassy 60s fashion. Ever since, we've been looking for ways to pay tribute to the Love Witch's style, and what better time to unleash the attitude than during the season of love.

You an Elf or a Grinch?

» There are two types of people in this world: those who live for Christmas lights, ugly sweaters and an endless airplay of We Wish You A Merry Christmas; and those who seek to hibernate through the "winter" and wake up only when times are sane again. Here are signs that you're either straight outta Santa's workshop or the spawn of Scrooge.

» We've all fantasised about leaving it all behind to explore the world full-time, but let's be real — how many of us would realistically opt out of stability and having nice stuff? Kookai — Piyapattra Chaimahawong — is one former-Bangkokian who took the road less-travelled. In November of 2015, the then 22-year-old ran with her instincts, quitting her job, putting her apartment on lease and buying a one-way ticket out of town. The spur of the moment decision ended up leading her to finding sustainability in being a digital nomad as well as a loving travel companion, Mathieu. Guru catches up with the travel bug to talk about living a location-independent life and her blog,

    Graduation checklist

» There's one part of higher education in Thailand we can confidently say is more impressive and challenging than that of any other country -- our graduation ceremonies. It's every Thai parent's dream to see their grown kids suffer through at least two full days -- dress rehearsal and the actual commencement -- of outdoor photo shoots while dressed in elaborate uniforms, plus the gown, props and an inhuman amount of make-up and hairspray. Did I mention that we're in a tropical country where it is pretty much the scorching summer year-round?!

» Songkran break is coming around and you know what that means. Besides fatally high temperatures and a three-day water war, for a growing number of Bangkokians, any impending long holiday triggers a visit to the likes of Skyscanner and Expedia for their next overseas adventures.
