    Does thai society accept intermarriages?

By Anonymous, Created on: 19/09/2003, Last updated on: 09/05/2006

» The thai men that are undesirable are usually uneducated ones who try to get through life by being sleazy. This is why alot of thai women are turned off by marrying a thai man. Typical thai males are fairly unambitious, narrow-minded, and judgemental. I think that its the society that is teaching...

    • Anonymous commented : to have sequals! Even in thai movies, shows ans soap operas, it is not unusual to have queer characters who are neither men nor women, yet quite assertive in an entirely different sort of genre. Too often, they are portrayed as the deeply emotional character, the ridicously farcical and buffoon character, or the yak that is outspoken to the point of abrasiveness. The point I'm trying to make is that thai male masculity is very tough to exert these days when there are all these queer creatures in thai society allowed to go on a rampant, with the help of a highly dysfunctional media sector. These portrayals are deeply engraining to the vulnerbale female population that hasn't even the slightest clue of what their male counterparts are getting into.. How could we blame them?

    • Anonymous commented : I would like to recommend a Thai movie to anyone who want to understand a little of almost everythings about Thailand...i.e. dowry system and basic rural or urban lives. "MONRAK ROI LAAN" bahts is a Thai musical comedy without English subtittle. If you do not speak or read Thai, you will need someone to help you translate. The brides' family in this movie asked for "roi laan bahts" in dowry for their beautiful daughters. "Roi Laan" bahts is hundred million bahts.

    • Anonymous commented : things like bad fashions, bad movies, bad cultures, bad habits, bad governments, bad religions, and etc.. It is appeared that you have never participate in the governing processes since you educated comments about Thai laws and taxation. If you want real utopia, you need to advocate for borderless world, no immigration law, freedom of moment, free trade, one world order/government, and I guest that free everythings would also satisfy your needs. Oh, who is going to labor on the land to produce foods, build roads, dig dirt, clean toilets, or do all those things to provide for free services. Oh, It is better to divide the world into two. Where A section is always providing certain services and raiding the B section for free everythings, the government of B section will have to pretend and lie to their citizens that they are good, hard working, and people of the land. Oh, it already happened. The first world is already living off their colonial dividends from the developing world and by exploiting them for slave labors and natural resources too.

How difference between Thai lady and Us lady

By Anonymous, Created on: 25/11/2004, Last updated on: 19/04/2007

» I need to know why many Us guy falling with Thai lady.

    • Anonymous commented : larger influx of westernized movies though. Don't think they're taking you to the bank, most Thai girlfriends expect their Thai boyfriends to pay them weekly; as a decade ago, women weren't "supposed" to work. I STRONGLY advise anyone marrying Thai to learn everything possible about their culture. Depending on the village your bride/spouse may be from and how devout she may be to their culture (most are) there may be things you might want to know about. I.E. - Up in the northern villages, if someone is deathly ill, or dies, the oldest woman in the family (your wife maybe) must shave all her hair (entire body)and offer fruit to the Buddha in the local temple while fasting all day and sitting only on her knees. Others involve sucking the insides of scarabs out of their body after tearing off their wings, etc. Normal place in some villages, so you may be eating this when you visit your new mom in law. BTW - Most farang are considered bums if you don't, prior to getting married, pay a tribute to the mother. Roughly 2500 US dollars is the minimum expected of any foreigner. Just things to be ready for. You need to be prepared to accept their culture as well, because most are strongly loyal to their way of life. You may think you're being taking advantage of, but thats how a majority of women in Thailand think. Its only recently women there are questioning that. Abuse is never a good sign though. But I wouldn't think twice about "more money, more money, find a way to send more, think of your baby, bla bla". That seems to be what almost every woman I've talked to there would say. However I've noticed younger women obsessed with the western movie stereotype of love lately. So, in time, Thai shouldn't base their love on money. Considering all else, while it is not "ok" for Thai men to run around on their woman. There's no law about it AND its not looked down upon at all save for traditionalist Thai's in villages. Very few in a city, albeit. The result, is Thai women found out, that there are laws on Western men cheating on them and more on child support etc. Quite a few of them, especially ones working in bars, or tourist locales has grown up without a father, and had many failed relationships, and therefore do not trust men or simply don't expect them to be faithful. They tend to then, place all their love and importance on their child and family. Because although their family may be abusive (Thai families i've seen practice tough love, ie mother "you're stupid, prove you're smart to me") They do honestly believe their family is the one thing that will stay with them forever but you, their spouse, may not. I'm not out to offend anyone, Honestly, I think Thailand is one of the most beautiful, and respectful countries in the world. If you're outside of Bangkok and Pattaya, Its the best. If you're there for sex, that's your thing. I don't blame those girls, they can sleep with two men a month, and make enough to live very well. Anyone, feel free to email me, I really do love Thailand. Its a great place and the people, if you understand them and don't pass judgement, are THE most respectful people I've ever met. I'd love to talk about it, and/or attempt to answer any questions. Im American BTW

RE: My Mom doesn't Like Farangs

By Anonymous, Created on: 07/12/2004, Last updated on: 19/09/2007

» Your mom is right baby. Most farangs could'nt be entrusted. They consider your country as a backyard brothel that should yield to all their queer demands and nature. They look for cheap sex and free service. Sex that act on the woman as if she were a sex tool that responds automatically without resistance....

    • Anonymous commented : sually expose to them through movies. Chinese, Japanese, and Indian movies are showing on regular TV stations more often than foreign movies like European movies. Thai children are watching Japanese cartoons and action heroes on TV. Marshal art movies from Japan and HK are popular in cities. Indian musical movies are from Baliwood. Farang movies are mostly come from Hollywood. So farang images are coming mostly out of American movies with fast foods, fast cars, fast women, and fast guns.

Estimate of Dowry for Girls family

By Anonymous, Created on: 14/05/2006, Last updated on: 24/01/2007

» I am a good Thai girl.. To marry to Thai girl you need to have ceremony and dowry ( no dowry it dosn'r mean marriage) for poor family is about 60,000 this is for non eductaed girls nore good job. ( if not she will lose face of whol family and all will gossip)- 2 if she has a degree or good...

    • Anonymous commented : Sorry Chis, Ian and anyone else for your previous bad experiences with Thai marriages. Dowry is common in Thai culture but somehow I think there’re definitely different points of view even among Thais. I’m one of Thai girls as well. According to Rom’s first post, to be honest, it’s my big surprised to know that we have the pricelist for dowry!! “for poor family is about 60,000 this is for non educated girls???...if she has a degree or good job must be 100,000 up???... if she's from the rich family as well can be 200,000 up?? but for 500,000 up if she's a model or movie star…..???......” Sorry Rom, but that makes it sounds like “Thai Brides Pricelist” which I totally disagree. Just an example, my brother just married with his girlfriend, a very beautiful Master Degree Thai girl from a wealthy family. Of course between Thai-Thai is simply to understand that dowry is common. However, the bride family didn’t demand for anything at all!! Anyway, to follow the tradition my family gave the dowry with money and gold to her family. The bride’s family didn’t take any single Baht of that dowry, her parents gave all to the newly-wedding couple. In addition, they also gave exactly the same amount of money and gold to the couple as a gift for beginning their new life together. I think no matter you’re Thai-Thai or Thai-Farang couple, if you ask any ordinary Thai families, the dowry issue is only the symbol of respectfulness and thankfulness to the bride parents for raising up their daughter nicely therefore she became the beloved and right one. It’s just a part of the traditional ceremony, but it can’t be a condition that the girl can marry with this guy or not! You can’t value the girls for money, that’s human trade!

    My Thai wife

By Anonymous, Created on: 21/03/2007, Last updated on: 06/10/2007

» I recently married a thai girl, I love her so much, but it seems I can do nothing to please her. She moved to Canada and now she is so lazy she will do nothing, I do all the housework " I do not mind" But now she keeps asking for divorce. Is there anyway to please them. I would like to know...

    • Anonymous commented : nothing except watching Thai movies all day and night. At first he interpretes this as a sign of being homesick. He ends up doing all the housework, cooking, cleaning, shopping, driving, running errands.... while the mrs. spends her time talking on the overseas calls. Many Thais sympathize by his plight. They also admire his patience for being able to put up with her life style. As it happens all the time, the husband ends up being a murderer. I hope you don't consider go through that route. It's easier to divorce her, send her back on a one-way ticket. Good luck !

By Anonymous, Created on: 07/01/2008, Last updated on: 03/01/2009

» I had known her for 4 months, got engaged while visiting for the first time for 2 weeks, yet, only 2 months later, felt the pressure to pay the 250 K BHT for the 1 rai village lot.
