» Last week, I visited Wat Chak Daeng in the Phra Pradaeng district of Samut Prakan to make merit. Instead of donating cash, food or monk robes, I donated paper boxes, UHT (ultra-high temperature) boxes and a big bag fully loaded with single-use plastic bags that I had collected for two months.

» It is always easy to blame someone when something goes wrong. That was what Nok Air CEO Patee Sarasin did when nine flights did not take off from Don Mueang airport on Valentine's Day, Feb 14. About 1,500 passengers were stranded at airports in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phitsanulok, Khon Kaen, Ubon Ratchathani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Surat Thani, Hat Yai and Phuket.

» October 1 is a remarkable day for Thai AirAsia, the giant low-cost airline. It will move its operation base from Suvarnabhumi airport to Don Muang airport. The relocation will bring about 10,000 more passengers to Don Muang airport per day, according to Airports of Thailand (AoT). At present, Don Muang services flights for Nok Air, OrienThai, Solar Air and charter flights. AoT expects more low-cost airlines to follow suit. With the move, Don Muang then will be known among passengers as a low-cost airline hub.
