Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 14/06/2013

» CentralWorld is buzzing with more people than usual at the moment because a fair dedicated to street food is being held there until Sunday (see Food, p20), attempting to cement Thailand as the hub of street food. The fact is we can celebrate street food all year round given the sheer number of food vendors in this city. However, for first-time visitors (or even some Bangkok khun noos) the street food scene may feel like unexplored territory. We are here to help with our very own guide to Bangkok street food.

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 04/01/2013

» We're four days into 2013, and no doubt you've already broken your New Year's resolutions by now. But who needs self-control and discipline when we live in Thailand and can rely on the art of superstition? Sure, some people subscribe to the belief that you should work hard to achieve your goals, but if you're feeling particularly lazy/have nothing to lose/down on your luck, then why not try some of these methods that people believe can help bring them blessings? Of course, Guru doesn't guarantee that any of these methods will work, but if they do, feel free to share some of your good fortune with us.

    What's the big Idea?

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 19/10/2012

» We're increasingly sure that becoming an adult in Thailand doesn't require passing any tests in common sense. The number of grown-ups we've seen come up with a plan to achieve something through flabbergasting means is more flabbergasting itself (doubling the flabbage factor). With all due respect, here are our picks of the most questionable ideas ever cooked up in the Kingdom. (If nothing else, they should make you feel good about your plan to get off work by rubbing your face with a sick kid, or something equally silly).
