    Gate crasher

» ELECTRO: There's lots of live music and art this week again, as the DJ-dominated party scene of the past abates. Things kick off tonight (Jul 19) with one half of brotherly outfit Kyoto Jazz Massive, who are known for their jazz-spiked production work that is very Japanese - precise, refined, on point. Venue is Fish (3/F, Cosmic Cafe, RCA Block C, Rama IX Road, 081-304-6907), which will hopefully bring in some extra hi-fi to accommodate the fresh soundscape of the guy. We're guessing he is just going to DJ, without any live elements on top but it's still a treat for the bedroom rockers of the city who will appear out of the ether for it. Entry is only B200.

» There seems to be an awful lot of copycat cooking in this city, with trends being cut, copied and pasted around town as quickly as you can say, "Thong Lor is just too 2012... I'm moving to Ekamai." However, a new player in the game is Paste, which is bucking the trend and doing its own thing in a modern and innovative way.

    Going all in

» The all-in-one concept has come a long way from its origins with the first Apple Macintosh and similar PCs in the 1980s. Now all serious PC manufacturers have a model on the shelves, and most have a complete range since touchscreen technology recently revamped the genre. These include Acer with two new offerings sporting the new Windows 8 operating system.

    Slated for success?

B Magazine, Richard Mcleish, Published on 28/10/2012

» Slate PCs are a slight curiosity in the gadget world, lying somewhere between tablets and ultraportable notebooks. They pack the power of a notebook but miss the built-in keyboard and trackpad, while offering only similar screen dimensions to a tablet PC but carrying much more bulk.
