A commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the formation of the Asean community, the festival will feature seven films from seven neighbouring Asean countries of Vietnam, Myanmar, Cambodia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Singapore and Malaysia, as well as seminars and discussions about various topics. Show your support for the artists responsible for your favourite songs at the Long Khan Music Festival, a pay-what-you-want event where every bit of money goes toward the performing artists. » 1. We've made several mentions of The Forest, one of two Thai short films to be featured at the prominent 18th Far East Film Festival earlier this year. Hailed as a masterpiece by foreign critics for its "classic horror-style camera angles" and its "unique perspective and presentation of Isan culture", those who missed the film's limited screening in SF World Cinema last month can get another chance at watching the film at the Filmmaker's Forum event at the Whiteline Bar on Silom Road tomorrow. The event will also be attended by director Paul Spurrier, who will be discussing his experiences with the film. Screening begins at 8pm.

» 1 Treat yourself to some of the best short films in recent Thai history with Lost In Blue, a collection of three student-made films revolving around various types of heartbreak. The three films (Wannan Kong Duen -- That Day Of The Month, Rain and Glowstick) -- directed by recent graduates of Chulalongkorn University's Faculty of Communication Arts -- have collectively won various awards both in Thailand and abroad. The long list of accolades includes the White Elephant Film Award, the Young Thai Artist Award, and, most prominently, the Special Jury Mention award from the Clermont-Ferrand International Short Film Festival. The latter is known as one of the most prestigious short-film competitions in the world, and that makes Wannan Kong Duen one of only two Thai short films ever to win an award at the competition. The film is being shown exclusively at SF World Cinema, CentralWorld.

The sci-fi romp Okja, directed by Bong Joon-ho and starring Tilda Swinton, Jake Gyllenhaal and Ahn Seo-hyun, is produced by the streaming giant Netflix, and its strategy of hiring a brand-name filmmaker and A-list cast for a high-budget "television movie" looks set to challenge the landscape of global film consumption and distribution.

» 1 Art gallery, bar and tattoo shop Maison Close BKK will be hosting a special art exhibition, Ero Guro, at their venue tonight, 8pm. It will focus on the Japanese artistic movement of "ero guro", which uses grotesque images of spirits and sexuality to portray eroticism, sexual corruption and decadence. The movement began in Japan in the 1930s. The exhibition will feature works from some of the best contemporary ero-guro artists, including Toshio Saeki, Suehiro Maruo and more.
