Who knew space could be so shallow?

Life, Kanin Srimaneekulroj, Published on 21/07/2017

» To be honest, there's a lot that Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets -- the latest space opera from French director Luc Besson (The Fifth Element, Taken) -- does well. Its universe, filled with diverse alien creatures and sprawling cities, brings to mind the likes of Star Wars, so rich with life and culture. The diversity of the aliens makes the action equally exciting, as the esoteric weapons and technology of each race come into play in unexpected ways. It's also quite humorous, with a surprisingly light-hearted script for a movie about genocide and military conspiracies.

    Think global, act local

Life, Kong Rithdee, Published on 17/10/2013

» Walt Disney created Mickey Mouse in 1928. After years of toiling in Hollywood, the animator joined the vanguard of the talking-picture revolution when he produced Steamboat Willie, a cartoon that synchronised sound and animation featuring the good-humoured rodent that would become iconic (and maybe immortal). Two years later, Walt and his brother Roy licensed Mickey-related merchandise. And from the humble birth of Mickey Mouse 85 years ago, the Walt Disney Company has grown into a massive global business empire with a catalogue of nearly a thousand characters, complete with movies, animation, television, music, games and consumer product divisions. The acquisitions of Pixar, Marvel and LucasFilm have expanded the Disney universe and pop-cultural influence, especially among young audiences.

    Scala goes digital

    Life, Published on 07/03/2013

» For 42 years Scala cinema has projected films as film was supposed to be projected: with 35mm print, rolled into a plate as light beams through the strips and atomises the moving pictures that hit the screen. Now the theatre has evolved, along with the whole world.
