    The man on the moon

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 28/04/2017

» The 60th-anniversary celebration of the Speedmaster featured plenty of stardust (I mean celebrities), but the event also saw the attendance of the space hero who wore Omega's rigorous test-racing watches to the Moon. Looking resplendent in a jazzy American-flag tie, with three Omega watches on his wrist and a highly unexpected number of rings for an 87-year-old, Buzz Aldrin is still a hoot when talking about his mission 48 years ago. With a laugh, the man insists he is living proof that the concept of selfies existed in his time too. After all, he first decided he wanted to take a photo of himself in space in 1966. It's only fitting that such a character inspired the name of Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear.

    New looks

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 08/10/2016

» Last month, Fashion Field Trip returned for the sixth year to showcase their autumn/winter collections. Held at Sathon's event hot spot Bangkok CityCity Gallery, this year's shows are not the mega-spectacle they usually are, with at most 150 spectators at each show. Still, shows should always be about the clothes, and it's relevant that Vickteerut, Issue and Asava all thought it was appropriate to scale down and return to their roots. In this digital age, it's easy to drift away from the fact that the purpose of shows has always been for press, buyers and VVVIPs of the brand -- not, you know, everyone who owns a smartphone. There wasn't much legroom, with the gallery's small space and even more limited seats, this year, so here's our recap on the industry's big three this season.

    Bonjour, Loubi World!

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 30/10/2020

» For the first time ever, heel fanatics will be able to buy themselves a pair of Christian Louboutin shoes for approximately 62 baht. That's a crazy good deal, considering how a pair of shoes from this luxury high-end brand should set you back no less than 20,000 baht. The catch, however, is that all this must be done (and worn) in the Korea-based gaming application Zepeto.

    Love, always

Muse, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 11/08/2018

» Flowers are always a nice gesture, but ones that can last forever are sure to give you a better run for your money. Why not gift mum with some jewellery pieces that come with the floral sentiment? Flowery assortments from Swarovski come in contemporary designs which feature a timeless black and white colour combo. They've also got a pearl option where they can be removed from the earring to channel the asymmetrical earring trend. If you want real diamonds, Tilda's Mother's Day collection features florals which also hold symbolic meaning through eight flower petals. Eight represents infinity, or infinite love in Western culture, while signifying wealth, or infinite fortune in Chinese culture. Otherwise, seal your love with hearts from Pandora which also comes in rose or golden hues this season. Their iconic logo and heart-shaped charms come in sweet colours that will blend right in with your staple silver set, while there are also letter charms to spell out your appreciation for mum.

Longing for a better Comic Con

Life, Parisa Pichitmarn, Published on 06/05/2016

» Very little squealing went down at this year's Bangkok Comic Con -- at least from yours truly. The massive geeky gig last weekend, now in its third year, was again hosted at BITEC this past weekend, although this year by True Visions and not the old co-host, BEC Tero. If you missed it, you didn't miss very much, as the smaller, local booths (distributors of books, DVDs, merchandise) that did not join BCC made for a pretty dull affair.
