» I was beyond relieved when those creepy lookthep dolls stopped making headlines. It was just too weird seeing people spending obscene money pampering a lifeless doll.

A traditional tool for the non-traditional

» Separation is hard on the couple, but it can be even harder on the kids. They are labelled children of "broken homes". They are perceived as "troubled kids". People assume that they don't get enough love and are more inclined to turn out bad. The worst part is that if the society lets such terrible assumptions continue, the kids will start to believe they are true. That can't be a good thing for our society.

» I recently saw a magazine cover that featured a man who had an extremely strange and long name. I don't even remember the name, what he did or why he was on the cover. All I remember is that his name was really weird. It was the Thai equivalent of "Dsfjosoifandegfio". In other words, it looked like someone had spilled Scrabbles tiles and decided to use the resulting mess as a name.

» In person, Ines de La Fressange is even more captivating than in those glamorous pictures. It isn't just her striking appearance — although it’s magical how she remains so fabulous, fresh and fun at three years short of celebrating her 60th birthday — that is arresting. » The recently imposed ban on an Instagram account of a child celebrity sparked a debate on issues ranging from child protection and parental egos to online security. Two weeks ago the account of Wanmai, four-year-old sister of a well-known actor, was threatened with shutdown by the social media site. Thousands of her "followers" expressed their disagreement, even anger, with not just the announcement but also Instagram's minimum-age policy.

» I recently came across an online forum asking singles and childless couples why they had decided not to have kids. I braced myself for some anti-child answers — something a mother like me does not like to see.

» Every day I see disturbing things on social media. Sometimes it's something minor, like boastful friends posting pictures of their latest luxurious purchase, but from time to time, some really depressing things emerge on my screen, such as the recent forum discussing the prevalence of "abortion pills".
