Nakhon Phanom: More than meets the eye

» The public space along the Mekong in the town of Nakhon Phanom was quite bright. It was illuminated by the yellow light of street lamps and colourful decorative lights to celebrate Christmas and the New Year. The ambience highly contrasted with the other side of the river, a quiet scene of the reserved forest of the Phou Hin Poun National Protected Area in Khammouane Province in Laos.

» Before the Sun rose over the Pattani River, one community in the city of Pattani were widely awake or perhaps didn't sleep from the night before. The old quarter was known as Chinatown Pattani. Iconic wooden bridge restoration delayed

» Restoration of the collapsed Uttamanusorn Bridge, better known as Saphan Mon in Sangkhla Buri, Kanchanaburi province, has been delayed. Seventy metres of the 850m-long wooden bridge collapsed on July 28 last year, due to strong river currents. However, restoration could not begin immediately due to the high level of the river.
