» Thepnara Kongsawang was uncomfortable elaborating on how he was punished by his drill sergeants during his one-year conscription at a military camp. What's done is done, the 28-year-old artist said, and his art was never meant as an act of hostility against the military in any way. It's simply a set of works designed to make comments and poke fun.

» Stepping into the dimly lit Jim Thompson Art Center, one immediately feels connected. The parade of motorcycles is more than a common sight in Bangkok. The colourful car headlining and flaring lights are reminiscent of a songthaew ride home. Other video installations featuring in the space's current exhibition "Missing Links" are instantaneously relatable, even without any explanatory text.

» At Yet-Space, there was fried chicken which looked like KFC but tasted worse. At Speedy Grandma, the hipsters, as usual, seemed perfectly fine with Asahi draught as their sole sustenance. At Bangkok University Gallery there was food but I wasn't there in time to see what it was. In this month's column, which rounds up the best food served in the capital's art scene, The Jam Factory Gallery was a sure winner.

» Over the past few months, the social media in Thailand has literally turned from a playground for fun and entertaining diversions into a veritable battlefield. Facebook's bragging, attention-seeking statuses and narcissistic selfies have been replaced by quotes, reports, pictures and video clips attacking those on the opposite side of the political divide _ and to convince and confirm the righteousness of one's own camp.
