    I beg your parden

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 31/03/2017

» If you weren't sold on the two magic words parfait parlor, I don't know what your stomach is made of because mine was ready at the doors two minutes before its opening hours.

    It's sunny-side up in Nana

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 28/10/2016

» When I tell people I live on Soi 11, I usually get one of two reactions. It's either "Oh my god, how can you live there?!", or "So -- you can actually walk home from Cheap Charlie's, that's awesome." All in all, it's not a bad area. There are plenty of kebabs around and witnessing the walk of shame around 10am on a Saturday morning is always a treat. What is missing though is a decent place to grab brunch.

    Winter Wonderlands

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 27/11/2015

» Can you feel that? The winter breeze is finally passing through Thailand. Well, either that or you’ve just walked through 7-Eleven’s doors. Nevertheless, it’s nearly December, and what does this mean? Scouring Uniqlo for fleeces on discount, “sick” day planning, last-minute reports, fantasising about what to do with your year-end bonus and, of course, checking which parties are worth hitting up. To save you some time, Guru has compiled a guide to festivals and fairs that will take place before the new year arrives. Sobriety, of course, is not guaranteed.

» Bangkokians’ got 99 problems -- and we’re still counting. Sure, there are perks, such as having the safety net of motosai drivers when we’re running super late, a 7-Eleven at every street corner so we’ll never starve to death -- even the persistence of luxury malls, which keep popping up so we’ll never be without brands at which to throw our hard-earned cash. But the reality is us city-dwellers don’t always have it as easy as others might think. Bangkok is a tough city to live in, but know this, Dear Readers, you are never alone -- all 6.3 million of us have, on more than one occasion, also found ourselves in these face-palm-worthy situations. Forget first-world problems, here are 10 common struggles Bangkokians regularly face.

    V-Day Playbook

Guru, Jarupat Buranastidporn, Published on 13/02/2015

» Ah, the most romantic (dreaded) day of the year is back, and how lucky for couples who have already planned a luxury getaway to Paris or stocked up on gallons of wine and whipped cream (not that we’re suggesting anything). Then there are those of us who completely forgot and are trying to force a bunch of leaves into the shape of a rose bouquet. All this pressure and frustration, it’s surprising why we haven’t converted Feb 14 into something more meaningful, like Cockroach Unappreciation Day. But fear not, Guru is here to give you a rundown on how to get through Valentine’s Day this year, whether you’re a lover, a player or a stay-at-home loner with 10 cats.
