Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 26/07/2018

» I love Thailand. The more I travel, the more I realise how lucky I am to have been born and raised in this country. But when it comes to durian, it's a different story.

    A misty, ephemeral beauty

Life, Karnjana Karnjanatawe, Published on 22/01/2015

» The sky was still dark while roosters were crowing. From time to time, cars passed by our small hotel located on a bank of the Mekong River in Sangkhom district of Nong Khai, 694km northeast of Bangkok. It was almost five o'clock and we were ready to experience the "sea of fog" in this laid-back town.

    Smooth as the Silk Road

Brunch, Richard Leu, Published on 17/07/2016

» Revisiting the Silk Road is something people who love adventures on wheels would want to do at least once in their lifetime. Of course, tracing Marco Polo's exact route between Asia and Europe is virtually impossible. But just being able to complete a transcontinental drive is already a feat in itself.

Let it go in a winter paradise

Life, Pichaya Svasti, Published on 11/12/2014

» As a rain shower stopped over Hong Kong Disneyland, our tourist group stepped into the "Frozen" zone, the park's newest themed area based on the animated film. » Travelling in a four-wheel-drive on a 2,700km route from Myanmar's old capital of Yangon through Thailand via the Dawei-Kanchanaburi border sounds tough for many. Yet, it was considered a small adventure for some 80 Myanmar and Thai people who recently took part in the "Myanmar Tourism Marketing-Tourism Authority of Thailand Heritage Trail Tourism Cross-Border Rally" because most of them love challenges.

    Spiritual connection

Life, Pongpet Mekloy, Published on 05/07/2018

» Back in February, when a notification on my mobile phone alerted me about a budget airline's promotional fare to Okinawa, Japan's southernmost prefecture, I immediately checked it out. For a round trip in June, it's only about 4,500 baht. With a big grin on my face, I said to myself: "Okie Dokie."

    Where is everyone?

Life, Tanyatorn Tongwaranan, Published on 02/07/2018

» Myanmar's gaudily peculiar capital Nay Pyi Taw, literally translated as "Abode of Kings", is one of the world's most bizarre cities -- a place for Myanmar bureaucrats and perhaps curious travellers. It is grandiose in scale, about 7,000km², or four times the size of Bangkok, but its official population is only one million. And it seems much less in reality.
