    Beam me up!

» Interest in extraterrestrial things (and beings) make a comeback to the Thai collective consciousness, thanks to asteroid 2006 QQ23 flying by and a viral video in which a local man, who claims to be a medium of Pluto God, warns humanity of 2020 doomsday in an alien tongue. This got us thinking about the local interest in UFOs and aliens, and how Thailand is linked to alien stories in a way that you may not be aware of. We aren't saying we believe in Pluto God or trying to convince you one way or another but there are many pieces of evidence (of varying degrees of credibility) of alleged alien visits to the Land Of Smiles and they are too fascinating not to share.

    City as canvas

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 06/06/2014

» On Jun 12, a noted Thai street artist named Danaiphat Lersputtitrakan, better known as Bon, will have his first solo exhibition after prolifically spraying his works both in and out of the country. He is just one of many examples of street artists who have started to get mainstream cred in the last few years. Hotels and restaurants have employed them to adorn their interiors while some have been hired by brands to use their designs. To explore this ongoing trend of underground art going overground, we talk to Bon about his upcoming exhibition, look at a hotel covered in street art, and outline where you can buy products featuring designs from Thai street artists.

    Dine refine

» Recently opened, Aston aims to define expectations you have for a restaurant from the first moment you lay eyes on it. The sign that bears the venue's name is rusty. Vines and foliage creep on a net in front of the building as if there's no sign of human existence. The bare cement building appears as if it has been lightly torched with a mini atomic bomb. That being said, the venue doesn't appear run-down but rather post-apocalyptic chic. However, it may not look too inviting to some dainty khun noos. Don't be scared.

    Feisty dining

» Bangkok is the city of the new being built upon the old. Silom Road used to be rice fields littered with windmills before buildings and roads took over to make it the business district it is today. The land on which CentralWorld currently sits used to be occupied by a Royal palace. Many sites of clubs, bars and restaurants on Sukhumvit Road have gone through different names and owners. And, who knows, your condo may even sit on a site where a cemetery used to lie.

    Consumers Unite!

» What do you do when sen lek arrives at your table instead of the sen yai that you ordered? What will you do in protest when dtac's service inevitably goes down again? How about taxi drivers who won't take you to your destination unless you accompany them on a joyride to a gem store first?
