    Songkran summertime

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 09/04/2021

» Summer is here and Songkran is around the corner so get your water guns ready because Bangkok is about to become an all-out water war zone! Wait, no water battles? For two consecutive years? Sadly, Songkran hasn't been the same since Rona came around and it seems like we have to wait yet another year to -- hopefully -- celebrate Songkran in the wet and wild way we're familiar with. But that doesn't mean your summer has to be a bummer or that Songkran has to be spent cooped up at home -- though we know it's certainly tempting since it's getting too dang hot outside. Here are some things you can do this Songkran summertime besides being sad that water fights aren't a thing again this year.

» 2021 is finally here and we can finally put "The Year That Must Not Be Named" behind us! Though we're not entirely out of the woods yet, the fact remains that a new year means we can turn a new leaf and look forward to the things yet to come this year. Here is a list of things that are in store for us, which hopefully -- fingers crossed -- may actually take place this year.

    Holiday in the sun

» Welcome to Phase 4! No, I'm not talking about the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase 4, which hasn't kicked off yet because Black Widow is postponed to November. I'm talking about the easing of restrictions nationwide as the country goes back to "normal". Monday saw the lifting of curfew so we can finally go back to staying out late and sneaking back home, as well as the lifting of the ban on sales of certain refreshments in restaurants. It also means the reopening of a number of places and attractions all around the country, and if you're like me, you've been itching to get out of Bangkok, head to the beach for some vitamin sea or go on a road trip with your pals. This week, Guru's got a list of places you can visit on your post-quarantine domestic travel.

» Samsung, the world's number one smartphone distributor, has yet again expanded its choices for its consumers with the release of the Galaxy S10+ and the Galaxy A50. Released as their new top and mid-tier models respectively, Samsung is keen on keeping its market dominance as well as enticing smartphone buyers -- and perhaps even converting those loyal to other brands -- to give them a try. But will these two new phones compel customers to dish out the cash?

    Just a couple of foodies

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 09/02/2018

» It's that time of the year when couples come out in full-force, restaurants are jampacked, roses and chocolates are more expensive, and single people are more bitter than usual. Yes, St Valentine's Day is upon us and that means couples all over the place. We could have just given you a list of places you could go to for a special dinner (actually, we did -- check our Food listings). But in lieu of the upcoming "festivities", if you could call it that, we decided to round up a number of foodie power couples to get to know their favourite restos and what they do during on this romantic day. Perhaps we noobs could learn a thing or two from them.

All I want for Christmas are these

Guru, Eric E Surbano, Published on 08/12/2017

» 'Tis the season to be giving, and for those of us who actually put some thought and effort into the gifts we give, it can be a little daunting. Will the person like it? Will they even use it? Is it affordable and within our budget? Will Santa bump us to the top of the "nice" column on his list? The last one is a joke because we all just want to give for the sake of giving... right? Anyway, here are four items that might just send someone jumping for joy when you give it to them as a present. We are not responsible for the awkward hugs and kisses you're bound to receive.
