    'Shakespeare' must live

    Oped, Postbag, Published on 15/08/2017

» Re: "Court cites national security to extend 'Shakespeare' ban," (BP, Aug 12). As makers of the films in question, we're writing to thank you for printing the news of our struggle for cinematic freedom. However, there is a small error of fact regarding the documentary we made while fighting the censors to rescind the ban on our Macbeth movie Shakespeare Must Die. Censor Must Die (sic, not 'Censors Must Die') was indeed submitted to the Board of Film Censors, which made the historic ruling citing Article 27(1) of the Royal Edict on Film & Video 2008 that "films made from events that actually happened" do not need to go through the censorship process. Significantly, this set a legal precedent which means that purist documentaries are now exempt from censorship. While we will indeed test this ruling soon with our next documentary film, we have not yet done so.

    Wedded to Facebook

Life, Catherine Faulder, Published on 14/08/2015

» If Facebook was a person, who would it be? My answer: he is my husband and we are in a dysfunctional marriage. Having never been married, you may be disinclined to read on. It was an arranged marriage. I didn't know what I was getting myself into 10 years ago, aged 15. I was too young to understand the weight of what I was signing up for. It's not even like we dated, I couldn't suss him out before my username and password tied me down to our contract. My vows? I do, Facebook, I do… even though I don't really know you!

It is disappointing to see the Post jumping on the bandwagon of pundits who advocate government action to increase the birth rate in order to boost the economy, while ignoring the larger context of a planet suffering from the ecological effects of too many people.
