Brilliantly Basic
Guru, Mika Apichatsakol, Published on 27/05/2016
» As depressing as it sounds, basic clothing is like that one underappreciated friend who's constantly got our backs. It may be because, individually, basic pieces are so underwhelming, possibly even unattractive, that we don't worship them like those unique, glamourous friends who may end up screwing us over when the tides change. Basic would never do that though, so this week we recognise the simple items we need in our closet.

Complicated grief extends the time it takes to heal after loss
Life, Published on 30/01/2024
» DEAR DOCTORS: My mother and stepfather were married for 42 years when he passed away suddenly. That was a year ago, and she's still struggling. I talked to my doctor about it, and he said it sounds like "complicated grief". I've never heard of that. What can we do to help her?

For ageing, looking at big picture more important than biomarkers
Life, Published on 21/11/2023
» DEAR DOCTORS: What does the term "biological age" refer to? How do you go about figuring out what your biological age is? I will turn 80 at the end of the year, am physically active and I eat a vegetarian diet. Is there anything else I should be doing to get "younger"?

Life, Tatat Bunnag, Published on 25/08/2023
» For us Asians, the legendary Monkey King character which dates back to 16th century Chinese mythology is nothing new. The cure for (some of) what ails you
Life, Karnjana Karnjanatawe, Published on 13/05/2020
» The herbal tea is dark green. The smell is not that appealing. Only a small sip can leave a long-lasting bitterness in your mouth. Fah talai jone, or green chireta, is known for its extreme bitterness. The King of Bitters has been used for the treatment of some sickness like the flu and sore throat for centuries in Asian countries such as Thailand, China and India.

Struggling to survive
Life, Thana Boonlert, Published on 23/05/2023
» You are what you eat, but some do not have the privilege to choose. Nai, who is skinny and short for his age, lacks more than just a proper diet. He has been abandoned by his mother, and his father is serving a jail term. As a result, his uncle has kindly taken him into his own family. But like others, he is living from hand-to-mouth, so providing his nephew with a balanced diet from the five food groups is difficult. Due to a lack of variety in their diet, slum children, though not starving, are suffering from malnutrition.

B Magazine, Published on 17/11/2019
» Those who can cook may have received tips from gurus or books, but to be a good cook you need regular practice to maintain consistency and improve taste. This is a basic rule cooks have always adhered to.

The coming storm
Life, Thana Boonlert, Published on 20/02/2023
» Climate change is an invisible killer. A family that lived in a hill station in India, an area known for its colder climate, took their sick child to the hospital. Nobody thought of dengue until a diagnosis confirmed it. Warmer temperatures in India and elsewhere make conditions more favourable for mosquitoes.
