    Immigration Police

By Anonymous, Created on: 10/06/2007, Last updated on: 03/08/2007

» This is to complain of the highandedness of the immigration police at the internation DM airport. I was totally unprepared for the harsh behaviour of most of the staff to us, tired travellers. What could have been a half an hour procedure took over 3 long hours thanks to the silliness of one person...

    • Anonymous commented : I have to agree with Apple on this one. I have come through Thailand very many times (I can't even count them off hand), at both airports, and I have never had a single issue with folks at the immigration. Always polite, sometimes even chatty, and I have always been treated with dignity and very rapidly dispatched. In fact even the touts (taxi, hotel, etc.) in the airport are really quite friendly and polite (albeit, extremely annoying!) and I have to say that is a pretty universal trait in Thailand. People are by and large respectful and friendly almost everywhere except for when they are behind the wheel of a car! I can scarcely recall any unpleasant interaction with individuals in any capacity and I surely cannot say that about my own home country. Sincerely, USajaarn

    • Anonymous commented : mit that they have lot of bad apples in their ranks. However, mails and packages gone through other countries before arriving in Thailand. Many of the mails with checks were opened in Hong Kong by criminal gang there also before arriving in Thailand. Often, the packages are holding for inspection and taxation or for security reasons. With modern day e-mail and e-check, people should try find other way to send their mail, packages, or money. DHL, FedEx, and UPS are the prefer way to send packages. Gifts are taxable beside other commercial items.

» Hi to all, Over the past few years I have read many of the posts offering excellent and sensible advice. This was without realising one day I may appreciate advice myself. I will be entirely honest in the details that follow. I agree with a previous respected poster who talked of 'moulding'...

    • Anonymous commented : are good people with some bad apples like everywhere else in the world. As a general rule don't accept negative behavior and don't encourage it by acting as if they can't live without you.

» Just some comments from Thai lady side, please be known that my comments are from only my experience. • Anonymous commented : o apologize for the "bad apples" but in every walk of society and race both male and female this sort of thing persists, but from my personnel viewpoint the vast majority of farangs who take up with a thai lady on a permanent basis improve the lady's lifestyle beyond recognition, as no doubt you are aware , regards , colin .

    • Anonymous commented : not apologizing for 'bad apples' just feeling empathy for the Thai lady who is feeling humiliated by them. Apologize !! i would rather give them a kick in the ass.

    • Chaiyo Thailand commented : democracy, Sweden is like an apple and Thailand is like an orange. Like you said, unquote, we cannot compare apple to orange, so, I wouldn't compare Sweden to Thailand. Each one has got its own policy and speed of opening up. Give Thailand time, for the old guards (pu yai) to retire (literally), and for the new blood (young) to take over gradually, but surely and wholly. In the meantime, be contempt with your work permit and continue being a good fa rang, and I can assure you, many good Thais, will notice, that you're a good fa rang.

    • pachangamac042 commented : i judges do not settle for an apple and a pie. No chance to see if I won the prize or not. The topic disapeared. So here comes my answer to your quiz question, Special Service Detachment?

    • Profiler commented : e these two is like comparing apples and oranges... If the cops in Thailand were doing their job, how do you think that statistics would look?
