» We've all fantasised about leaving it all behind to explore the world full-time, but let's be real — how many of us would realistically opt out of stability and having nice stuff? Kookai — Piyapattra Chaimahawong — is one former-Bangkokian who took the road less-travelled. In November of 2015, the then 22-year-old ran with her instincts, quitting her job, putting her apartment on lease and buying a one-way ticket out of town. The spur of the moment decision ended up leading her to finding sustainability in being a digital nomad as well as a loving travel companion, Mathieu. » Born in New York, Luke Satoru is a Japanese halfie who decided to give his Thai father's homeland a try 10 years ago for better opportunities. Fast-forward to today, Luke is an exhibiting artist, paints murals for hotels like the Shangri La and Rosewood, and owns a cool tattoo studio on Charoen Krung Road called Black Pig where he's the resident inker. We decided to invade his space for a chat about his personal journey from an art student in NYC to an accomplished family man and artist in BKK. » Nova Contemporary Gallery's inaugural exhibition, "Today is the Day: The Proposition of our Future", is a poignant exposition on the aftermath of Fukushima, told collectively through the multimedia works of 10 artists. Renowned Japanese film artist Ryusuke Ito is among the batch of voices and contributes to the collection an evocative installation you'd need to appreciate for a few minutes from multiple angles. Originally titled "All Things Considered", Ito's piece is a video installation capturing a replica of the Fukushima Daiichi power plant's interior as well as the inside of a Japanese person's apartment -- seemingly tranquil, but in reality, narrative of livelihoods arrested by disaster.
