    For the (curious) records

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 13/09/2019

» It seems like not a month goes by without Thailand being recognised on a global scale. Recently, Bangkok beat Paris and London as the most visited city in the world for 2018, for the fourth consecutive year, according to a MasterCard ranking. Thailand's capital hosted 22 million overnight travellers. In the midst of the flattering and not-so-flattering world titles Thailand has received, you may not be aware of the times we receive recognition for rather peculiar feats. If your curiosity is piqued, allow me to present the strange/cool world records in the Land of Smiles.

    In the name of love

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 25/01/2013

» People can do crazy things in the name of love. Boys send flower, teddies and sweet texts to their girls and chauffeur them around (during the first three weeks of courtship anyway). Girls may already be working on the third draft of their itinerary of how they will celebrate Valentine's Day with their beaus (and also have encyclopaedia-sized scrapbooks filled with wedding ideas hidden somewhere in their closets).

    What's the big Idea?

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 19/10/2012

» We're increasingly sure that becoming an adult in Thailand doesn't require passing any tests in common sense. The number of grown-ups we've seen come up with a plan to achieve something through flabbergasting means is more flabbergasting itself (doubling the flabbage factor). With all due respect, here are our picks of the most questionable ideas ever cooked up in the Kingdom. (If nothing else, they should make you feel good about your plan to get off work by rubbing your face with a sick kid, or something equally silly).

    The girl Who rocks Thai

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 27/07/2012

» Over the past few weeks and as National Thai Language Day (Jul 29) approaches, we are seeing a growing interest in a new trend (or abomination depending on where you stand on the conservative-liberal continuum) of Thai language called phasa skoi, or skoi language.

    Thailand's got weird talent

Guru, Pornchai Sereemongkonpol, Published on 29/06/2012

» With the current barrage of talent shows on television, we guestimate that every Thai person will have their 15 minutes of fame by the end of 2013. However, most of the "talent" we have seen is either debatable (painting with bare breasts), as original as eating green curry with kanom jeen (covering the same ol' songs) or kinda disturbing (children belching out love songs). To flesh out the real capabilities of this fine nation, we have sought out individuals with unique and special abilities for your entertainment. And for our own amusement, we decided to appoint ourselves as the judge for our very own "Thailand's Got Weird Talent" show. Here are the finalists.
