In Bangkok, from roadside stalls and fresh markets to shopping malls and even social media, the King of Fruits is virtually everywhere you look. But still I don't see the once-common variety that I have been waiting for, the one I'm dying to savour.

Pronounced "life", lyf is a brand of the Ascott, a well-known name in the international hospitality industry. The room sizes range from 18m² (studios) to 105m² (six-bedroom duplexes). The Ascott plans to launch a lyf property in Bangkok next year.

» My heart was filled with excitement as the door of the gondola lift closed and the cable car was slowly leaving the station, taking me, my friend Kent and our downhill bikes up the slope to the trailheads 1,780m above sea level. We had planned this trip for more than half-a-year, and it's happening. A few minutes from now, we would be riding the famous trails of Fujimi, in one of Japan's largest bike parks.
